It’s early in the playoffs, but the Golden State Warriors look every bit the juggernaut and favorite in the 2022 NBA Championship odds.

On Sunday, they’ll look to sweep away the Denver Nuggets in their opening round series.

It all gets underway at Ball Arena at 3:30pm ET, in a game that will be live on ABC.

The visiting Warriors are 4-point road favorites.

Injury Report

Any chance that Denver’s star guard Jamal Murray would somehow join the Nuggets in the playoffs seems unlikely now. Murray, who suffered a torn ACL late last regular season, has not played a single game in 2021-22.

No dice for Denver’s third star Michael Porter Jr, either. He’s only played nine games because of a back injury, and won’t be back until near mid-May.

Warriors Betting Analysis

The emergence of Jordan Poole has perhaps unlocked the best new version of the Warriors, who have looked utterly dominant through three games these playoffs.

Poole shared top-scoring honors with Steph Curry as he poured in 27 points, adding three rebounds and three assists, helping the Warriors roll to a 118-112 Game 3 win.

His play has allowed the Dubs to bring Steph off the bench in each of the the first three games of the series. Curry had missed the last 12 games of the regular season with a foot injury.

Eventually Steph Curry will be back in the starting lineup. Someone — Poole, Wiggins, Looney — will have to come out.

Curry’s hitting his stride, too. Combined with Klay Thompson, who’s finding his splash-brother form, the trio accounted for 80 points in Game 3. That included a devastating 12-for-27 mark from downtown.

As a team, the Warriors shot 55.4% from the field — the third straight game they’ve shot better than 52% from the field. They also drilled 18-for-40 from deep, a crisp 45% clip.

Draymond Green, the other key cog to those Warriors title teams, had six points, 10 assists, five rebounds and two steals. One of those steals came in the final minute to seal the win.

Those four, with all-star Andrew Wiggins, are the latest iteration of GState’s death lineup. In 11 minutes in Game 3, that unit was a +29 against the Nuggets.

Nuggets Betting Analysis

Denver put together their best game of the series by far in Game 3. They shot 50% from the floor, including 42.3% from three-point range and put up a series-best 113 points, and it still wasn’t enough to get back into the series.

2022 NBA MVP odds favorite Nikola Jokic did everything he could, pouring in 37 points on 14-for-22 shooting, adding 18 rebounds and five assists in a losing effort.

Aaron Gordon played his best game in the series, putting up 18 points, 12 rebounds and four dimes, while Will Barton had 13 points, four rebounds and five assists.

While offense may have been a problem in the first two games, when the Nuggets could only muster 106.5 points over a pair of losses in San Francisco, Denver’s defense has been a major issue all series.

The Nuggets are allowing the Warriors to score a playoff-best 122.3 points per game on 54.2% shooting. They’re also punishing any Nuggets miscues, averaging 21.7 points off turnovers, the third-best output in the postseason.

Warriors vs Nuggets Pick

Minus Murry or Porter Jr, the talent disparity between the two clubs is evident.

That gives Golden State coach Steve Kerr the luxury to bring 2-time MVP Curry off the bench, a lineup quirk he’ll probably look to again in Game 4.

The Warriors have now won eight in a row dating back to the regular season and there are just too many weapons to account for.

Game 3 was the first game that didn’t end in a double-digit defeat in the series, but it would have covered the total set for Game 4.

Look for Golden State to get this series to bed as soon as possible.
