Hanging on to the final spot in the NBA Playoff Bracket — 10th in the East, the last play-in spot — the Washington Wizards (30-34, 15-19 away) try to snap a two-game losing skid when they visit the Detroit Pistons (15-50, 8-24 home).
It’s been a sunken season for a Detroit team that was hoping to make some marked improvements this season. Instead, they’ve been in the lottery mix early, and are on course for a top pick, currently working on an 8-game losing streak.
They’ll be playing the second night of a back-to-back, after opening a 5-game homestand with a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
This one gets underway Tuesday (March 7) at 7pm ET from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI. You can watch the game live on NBA League Pass.
Wizards vs Pistons Odds
Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Washington Wizards | -6.5 (-110) | -260 | OFF |
Detroit Pistons | +6.5 (-110) | +220 | OFF |
The NBA odds have the visiting Wizards as 6.5-point road favorites and -260 on the moneyline, an implied winning probability of 72.2%.
Washington has won three of their last four on the road, and are 15-19 away from home. They lead the 11th-place Chicago Bulls by 1.5 games, and are just a game back of the 9th-place Toronto Raptors.
Detroit has the fewest home wins in the NBA this season, going 8-24 at Little Caesars thus far. They are also the NBA’s only 50-loss team, one better than bottom-feeding Houston and San Antonio.

Washington vs Detroit Injury Report
For the Wizards, Kyle Kuzma (knee) missed Washington’s last game against the Bucks, after the previous a game against the Raptors where he played 42 minutes. On the year, he’s the third-leading scorer on the Wiz, averaging 21.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
Kuzma and Monte Morris (back), are both questionable for Tuesday.
As for Detroit, there’s a deep list of injuries, including leading scorer Bojan Bogdanovic (Achilles), Isaiah Stewart (hip), Killian Hayes (hand), Hamidou Diallo (ankle) and Rodney McGruder (hand) all listed as questionable.
Another big man, Jaren Duren, is out indefinitely with an ankle injury.
Washington Wizards vs Detroit Pistons Betting Analysis
After winning six of their previous nine, the Wizards dropped a pair of weekend games, sending them four games under .500 for the season.
Falling a 116-109 loss to the Toronto Raptors, Washington was handled by the Milwaukee Bucks 117-111.
Bradley Beal was Washington’s leading scorer with 33 points to go along with nine rebounds and a pair of assists, though he was 0-for-5 from downtown. Kristaps Porzingis added 24 points, 13 rebounds and five assists.

Despite grabbing 20 offensive rebounds and attempting 25 more shots than Milwaukee, the Wiz couldn’t make up the difference from distance, shooting just 8-for-31 from three point range. They were outscored from beyond the arc by 42 points.
Detroit only wishes they had those kind of struggles. This is a team that has won just five times in 2023, against 21 losses. The latest was a 110-104 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, who built a 31-18 first quarter lead and never turned back.

Isaiah Livers led the team in scoring with 17 points and five boards, while rookie Jaden Ivey had 13 points 13 assists and five boards. Corey Joseph had 14 points, five boards and four assists.
The Pistons are the second-worst scoring defense in the NBA, surrendering 119 points per game, and they couple that with an offense that only generates 111.6 points per contest (26th).

Wizards vs Pistons Betting Prediction
This is the second of three meetings between these two clubs, with Washington ripping the Pistons 120-99 back on October 25. Kuzma led all scorers with 25 points and six boards.
Washington has beaten up on the weaker home teams of late, going 5-1 against the spread in their last six on the road with a win percentage less than .400. They are, however, just 2-6 ATS in their last eight trips to Detroit.
Detroit has just three wins straight up in 11 games playing the second half of a back-to-back, but they’ve been a decent bet, going 6-5 ATS.
They’ve also been a spry bet against the lesser teams, going 6-1 ATS in their last seven against teams with a losing record.
Still, Detroit’s point differential is -8.5 on this current losing skid and they’re down bodies.
Look for Washington to show some urgency, and leave little doubt with this W.
Pick:Â
- Wizards -6.5 (-110); 1 unit to win 0.91 units
- NBA Betting Record: 31-29-1 ATS, 1-2 ML, 7-0 o/u, 0-3 parlays; -9.56 units
