Penn State Betting Trends

Senior guard Jalen Pickett is a strong contender for All-Big Ten honors. He is averaging 17.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists a game.

Pickett leads the Big Ten in assists and is fifth in scoring.

In the win over Michigan on Sunday, Pickett flirted with a double-double. He finished with 25 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Pickett helped Penn State shoot 54.4% (31 of 57) overall and 43.3% (13 of 30) on three-pointers. The Nittany Lions outrebounded Michigan 36-27 and had just nine turnovers

Chuck Lundy added 22 points and fellow senior guard Andrew Funk finished with 19 while reaching 1,500 career points. Both were 4 of 9 from three-point range and had three steals.

Lundy is scoring 14.2 points and pulling down 6.0 rebounds a game. Funk has a 13.2 scoring average in his first season after transferring from Bucknell as Penn State is 16th in the nation in scoring (76.9) and 19th in three-point shooting (38.5).

Pickett has nine 20-point games this season and Lundy has reached that mark four times.

On Sunday, senior forward Michael Henn contributed 10 points and three assists.

Penn State shot 61% and made 9 of 17 threes in the first half to build a 49-32 lead. The Nittany Lions then stretched the advantage as high as 32 points.

Purdue Betting Trends

Junior center Zach Edey is already a prohibitive -450 favorite in the Wooden Award odds and just keeps getting better.

Edey scored a career-high 38 points on Sunday in the win over Michigan State on 15-of-24 shooting. He also gathered 13 rebounds and set a career-best with three steals after having just four points and one board through the game’s first 12 minutes.

In all, Edey has averages of 22.1 points, 13.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocked shots a game. He leads the Big Ten in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage (61.2) while standing second in blocks.

The 7-foot-4 Canadian has recorded a double-double in 17 of 21 games this season and scored at least 11 points in every game.

Edey has helped Purdue rank 29th in Division I in scoring (75.7) and 11th in points allowed (60.3). The Boilermakers are also 27th in three-point defense (29.9) and 36th in field goal percentage allowed (40.2).

Freshman guard Fletcher Loyer has a 12.8 scoring average.

Senior guard David Jenkins Jr. scored a season-high 11 points off the bench Sunday as Purdue made half its 58 field goal attempts and went 12 of 22 (54.5) on three-pointers. The Boilermakers also outrebounded Michigan State 37-26.

Penn State vs Purdue Prediction

Purdue has won five straight games against Penn State, 14 of the last 15 and 18 of the last 20.

The Boilermakers notched a 76-63 road victory on Jan. 8 behind Edey’s 30 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots. Pickett had 26 points, nine rebounds and eight assists for the Nittany Lions.

Purdue should win again but Penn State is talented enough to stay under the number.
