Michigan Annihilates Ohio State

Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines were apprehensive heading into the biggest “Game” since 2006.

Running back Blake Corum hurt his knee late against Illinois and was a question mark. Ultimately, Corum’s status had no bearing on the outcome at the horeshoe. Backup Donovan Edwards more than picked up the slack in a 45-23 beatdown of the Buckeyes. Edwards ran for 216 yards on just 22 carries, including touchdown runs of 75 and 85 yards.

While Edwards was undoubtedly spectacular in this game, quarterback JJ McCarthy was the true star. The sophomore finally displayed the skills Jim Harbaugh has been raving about. McCarthy threw for 263 yards and three scores while adding another touchdown on the ground and outdueled former Heisman odds favorite CJ Stroud on the day. If McCarthy can continue to play at this level, the sky is the limit for this Michigan squad.

With their second straight victory in the series, Michigan is finally starting to erase the ghosts of past “Games”. Moreover, if the Wolverines continue to control the line of scrimmage the way they did in Columbus, Jim Harbaugh’s men will have a very real shot at their first national championship since 1997.

As we predicted last week, Michigan jumped all the way up to +250 to win the 2022 CFB National Championship, while Ohio State’s odds fell to +1400.

USC (Almost) Books Ticket to Playoff

With a victory over a tough Notre Dame Fighting Irish squad, the USC Trojans are on the verge of earning a trip to the College Football Playoff. In just his first season in charge, Lincoln Riley has his team headed to the Pac-12 Title game.

Predictably, USC’s offense was explosive once again, while relying on an opportunistic defense to defeat the Fighting Irish. The Trojans now lead the nation in turnover margin at an outrageous +22 on the season.

Meanwhile, Trojans’ quarterback Caleb Williams solidified his Heisman campaign with four total touchdowns in the victory. USC will meet Utah in a rematch of their week 7 loss. Should the Trojans erase the memories of the only blemish on their season, USC will almost certainly book its ticket to the College Football Playoff. USC is currently the best value play left on the 2022 CFB National Championship odds board at +1400.
