Bryce Young has the higher passing yards total of the two quarterbacks at 301.5, even though he isn’t confirmed to be playing. Alabama’s Jahmyr Gibbs has the highest rushing yards total at 81.5, while Tennessee’s Bru McCoy has the highest receiving yards total at 66.5.

Alabama is an 8.5-point favorite over Tennessee in the Week 7 college football odds. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EST, with CBS carrying the broadcast and ESPN’s College GameDay providing pregame coverage.

Hendon Hooker Passing Yards

Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker enters Saturday’s game vs Alabama as one of the top-rated quarterbacks in the country. In five starts, Hooker has thrown for 1,432 yards and 10 TDs with no interceptions.

Hooker is going to need to be at his best for Tennessee to spring the upset, which makes the “over” on his passing yards prop intriguing.  The veteran quarterback has averaged 286.4 passing yards per game in 2022.

We do have some history to go off here, as Hooker passed for 282 yards in a 52-24 loss to the Crimson Tide last season. This version of Tennessee is much better than the 2021 team and is 5-0 for the first time since 2016.

If Tennessee is going to beat Alabama, it’s likely going to be on the strength of their passing attack. The Crimson Tide have an elite defensive line that is allowing only 84.5 rushing yards per game.

Alabama is more vulnerable through the air, which means Hooker should see plenty of volume with his arm. With the Vols featuring three elite receivers in Jalin Hyatt, Bru McCoy and Remel Keyton, look for Hooker to toss for over 300 yards.

  • Pick: Hendon Hooker OVER 271.5 Passing Yards (-115)

Jahmyr Gibbs Rushing Yards

Georgia Tech transfer running back Jahmyr Gibbs has become the centerpiece of the Alabama offense with quarterback Bryce Young battling injury. Over the past two games, Gibbs has rushed for 360 yards and two TDs.

Even if Young is available to play Saturday, there’s no guarantee he’ll be at 100 percent. Gibbs is likely going to have another heavy-volume day where he carries the ball around 20 times. Given his 8.3 YPC, his rushing yards prop is great value.

Much like Alabama, Tennesse’s defense has been much better at defending the pass than the run. The difference is Tennesse is yet to face a good run offense, as opposing teams have simply been exploiting their weak secondary.

‘Bama torched this Tennessee rush defense for over 200 yards in 2021, with Brian Robinson rushing for 100-plus yards. The Vols are improved defensively, but they aren’t improved enough to stop Gibbs from going over his rushing prop.

  • Pick: Jahmyr Gibbs OVER 81.5 Rushing Yards (-115), Jahmyr Gibbs OVER 0.5 Rushing TDs (-135)

Odds as of October 15th at FanDuel Sportsbook

Oddsmakers are projecting a high-scoring Alabama vs Tennesse game, as five different players are odds-on favorites to find the endzone. Bama’s Gibbs is a very heavy favorite at -410 odds to score a touchdown.

Jalin Hyatt Is Top Value Play

Tennessee has been without top wide receiver Cedric Tillman for the past few weeks due to injury, which has led to Jalin Hyatt becoming Hendon Hooker’s top target. The latest Cedric Tillman injury update is that he’s not expected to play vs Alabama.

With Tillman out once again, look for Hyatt to be on the receiving end of at least one of Hooker’s deep balls on Saturday. Hyatt paces the Vols with 388 receiving yards and five TDs, while averaging 14.4 yards per reception.

Tennessee has scored first in every game this season, thanks to Josh Heupel’s fast-tempo offense. The Vols rank first nationally in yards per game and points per game. If Tennessee is going to beat Alabama, they need to get off to a quick start.

Hyatt is priced at +1000 to score the first touchdown in the Alabama vs Tennessee props, which is great value for Hooker’s top target. Bet on Hyatt as an anytime touchdown scorer, but also sprinkle on him as the first TD scorer.

  • Pick: Jalin Hyatt Anytime TD Scorer (-105), Jalin Hyatt First TD Scorer (+1000)
