They say that one man’s loss is another man’s profit. It was a rough weekend for many of college football’s top quarterbacks, but that played right into the hands of Oregon quarterback Bo Nix in the Heisman race.

Nix saw major improvement in his Heisman odds after Week 10, vaulting into the top-five thanks to some shocking results. Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud and Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker remain the MVP favorites, but their odds took a hit following Week 10.

Let’s take a look at the updated Heisman odds and analyze the latest movement.

Bo Nix Heisman Odds

Former Auburn quarterback Bo Nix entered Saturday with +2000 odds to win the Heisman. By the time a wild day of college football action had concluded, Nix was sitting at +800 to win the trophy at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Nix accounted for five touchdowns (two passing, two rushing, one receiving) in a 49-10 blowout win over Colorado. Nix was lethally accurate against the Buffaloes, completing 20-of-24 passes for 274 yards. He even caught an 18-yard TD pass from Bucky Irving.

We’ve had a hard time getting on the Bo Nix for Heisman train due to his inconsistent play throughout his time at Auburn. He’s a different player in Eugene though, and his Heisman campaign is gonna gain major traction after Week 10.

Nix’s dual-threat ability is a key reason he’s surging up the Heisman odds board. The senior pivot has passed for 20 TDs and rushed for 11 scores this year, putting him in some pretty elite company. The national media is taking notice of what Nix has been doing at Oregon.

Nix’s stats are pretty comparable to the top Heisman contenders, although his five interceptions aren’t ideal. Nix has the seventh-best completion percentage nationally (72.3%), while his 169.7 passer rating is ninth-best in the nation.

Nix really struggled in his marquee game against Georgia back in Week 1, which it’s why it’s hard to recommend putting down serious money on him to win the Heisman. Even if he shows out and leads Oregon to the Pac-12 title, we can’t help but think the voter’s bias against the Pac-12 might rear its ugly head.

CJ Stroud, Hendon Hooker Heisman Odds

The two Heisman favorites entering Week 10 were Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud and Tennessee pivot Hendon Hooker. Both players remain the top-two Heisman favorites after Week 10, but neither one helped their case on Saturday.

Stroud passed for only 76 yards with no touchdowns, while rushing for 79 yards in a 21-7 struggle win against Northwestern. Hooker, meanwhile, was held to only 195 passing yards and no touchdowns in a 27-13 loss to Georgia.

Hooker entered the day as a slight +100 favorite over Stroud (+200) to win the Heisman. By the time Week 10 had concluded, the two QBs had swapped places in the odds. Stroud remained at his +200 price, but Hooker faded to +280.

Stroud and the Buckeyes remain undefeated, which is likely why Stroud has re-overtaken Hooker as the Heisman favorite. Hooker blew his chance for a Heisman moment against Georgia, but Stroud’s Heisman moment opportunity is still coming against Michigan.

Other Week 10 Heisman Odds Notes

North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye is someone who is going to start getting serious Heisman consideration following Week 10. The redshirt freshman threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 74 yards and an additional score in UNC’s 31-28 win over Virginia.

Maye is now tied with Stroud for the most touchdown passes in the nation (29), which is something that oddsmakers have taken note of. Following Maye’s Week 10 outing vs the Cavaliers, DraftKings shortened Maye’s Heisman odds from +2000 to +1200.

Michigan running back Blake Corum was the other notable mover after Week 10. The junior had another huge day on the ground Saturday, rushing for 109 yards and two scores in a blowout win over Rutgers. Corum’s odds shortened from +1200 to +800.

Corum has to overcome major Heisman bias towards quarterbacks to get an invite to New York, but he’s been remarkably consistent every week. If the Wolverines’ star running back is the top player in the huge Ohio State vs Michigan Week 13 showdown, the Heisman race could get very interesting.
