Hendon Hooker Heisman Odds

Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker entered Saturday’s game vs Kentucky as the second betting choice for the Heisman behind Ohio State pivot CJ Stroud. By the time the night concluded, Hooker had overtaken Stroud as the favorite.

Hooker passed for 245 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for an additional score to lead the Volts to a 44-6 victory over the Wildcats. FanDuel shortened Hooker’s Heisman odds from +200 to +100 after the game, making him the new favorite.

Hooker has been gaining major traction in the Heisman odds over the past few weeks, and Week 9 was the game that pushed him over the top. It certainly helps that his main competition CJ Stroud didn’t have an amazing afternoon.

The big thing that sticks out with Hooker is his accuracy. He’s thrown for over 2,000 yards while managing only one interception. Hooker faces a huge test vs Georgia in Week 10, which will drastically impact his Heisman chances.

CJ Stroud Heisman Odds

Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud entered Week 9 vs Penn State as the favorite to win the Heisman. Unfortunately, by the time the game concluded, Stroud had lost his top spot to Hendon Hooker.

Stroud passed for 354 yards and one touchdown in a 44-33 victory over the Nittany Lions. Ohio State was trailing at halftime and relied on some key defensive plays, plus a few big runs from TreVeyon Henderson, to secure the victory.

Stroud was electric in the third quarter Saturday, but he made a mistake taking a sack at the end of the half and finished with some underwhelming numbers. FanDuel lengthened his Heisman odds from +100 to +150 after the game.

Much like Hooker with the Georgia game, Stroud has the chance for his “Heisman moment” with Michigan looming. Stroud’s 29 TD passes lead the country, but he’s made several small mistakes that are starting to add up.

Other Movement in Heisman Odds

The top-10 of the Heisman odds got a bit of a shakeup following Week 9. TCU quarterback Max Duggan and Illinois running back Chase Brown both entered the top-10, while Oklahoma State’s Spencer Sanders and Wake Forest’s Sam Hartman dropped out.

Duggan and Brown both had great performances to lead their respective teams to victories. Duggan passed for 341 yards and three TDs vs West Virginia, while Brown rushed for 149 yards and one score vs Nebraska.

Oregon quarterback Bo Nix was another big mover in the Heisman odds after Week 9. FanDuel shortened Nix’s odds from +4000 to +2000 after the ex-Auburn pivot threw for over 400 yards against Cal (with two picks, though).

Sanders was on the receiving end of a humiliating 48-0 loss against Kansas State on Saturday. Hartman, meanwhile, had a whopping six turnovers in a loss to Louisville. It’s almost impossible to get back into the Heisman race after games like that.

There will be movement everywhere in the Heisman odds for the remainder of the season, but this really does appear to be a two-horse race. If you want a more in-depth look at Hooker vs Stroud, we did a comparison in our story last week.

Ohio sports betting is on the way, so make sure you take advantage of all the great pre-reg offers if you’re thinking of betting Stroud at his new price.
