Two teams that were ranked in the top-10 early in the season meet in the Cheez-It Bowl as #18 Miami squares off with #21 Miami at 5:30 p.m. ET Tuesday at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
Miami quarterback D’Eriq King brought joy to Hurricanes fans last week when he announced he would be coming back for a sixth season of college football in 2021. He has thrown for 2,573 yards and 22 touchdowns and ran for 520 yards.
Both teams have standout wide receivers. Oklahoma State’s Tylan Wallace has 53 receptions for 877 yards and six touchdowns. Miami’s Mike Harley has 49 catches for 730 yards and six TDs.

Sanders vs Depleted Defense
Oklahoma State has been noted for its high-powered offense during most of Mike Gundy’s tenure as coach. Defense has been the Cowboys’ strength this season.
The offense had an uneven regular season in part because injuries affected the availability of quarterback Spencer Sanders and running back Chuba Hubbard, who was an All-American last season.
Hubbard has opted out of this game to prepare for the NFL Draft. However, Sanders is now healthy.

Look for Sanders and Wallace to have a big game against a Miami defense that will be missing starting ends Jaelen Phillips and Quincy Roche. Like Hubbard, they have decided to get an early jump on the draft.
Miami will also likely look to bring extra defenders into the box to try to stop an Oklahoma State rushing attack averaging 194.5 yards per outing. That should open things up for the passing game.
Sanders is coming off one of his best games of the year when he had 347 yards passing and three touchdown passes in a 42-3 win at Baylor in the regular-season finale. Sanders completed 20 of 30 passes.

Tough Time for King?
King has had a fine season, but he will be facing one of his stiffest tests against Oklahoma State. The Cowboys are allowing just 22.4 points a game and have and rank second nationally in third-down defense.

Despite playing from behind most of the game, King was limited to 239 passing yards in a 62-26 home loss to North Carolina in the last game of the regular season.
It is also easy to question the Hurricanes motivation in this one after the debacle against the Tar Heels cost them a berth in a New Year’s Sox bowl, most likely their hometown Orange Bowl.
