Both the Baltimore Ravens (4-3, 3-4 ATS) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-4, 2-5 ATS) would be the first to attest to the fact that the 2022 NFL season isn’t going they way they’d anticipated it would.

Tampa Bay, the preseason favorites in the NFC Championship odds, are 3-4. In the past two weeks, the Buccaneers have lost outright to both the 2-5 Carolina Panthers and 2-5 Pittsburgh Steelers as double-digit point favorites.

At 4-3, Baltimore owns a share of the AFC North lead. However, the Ravens have blown 10+ point leads in all three of their losses this season.

Both teams will be seeking to right their ships during the Week 8 TNF game. Oddsmakers are leaning slightly toward the Ravens being the ones to get it done. Baltimore is a 1-point road favorite over Tampa Bay. The Ravens are 1-4-1 against the spread in their last six games.

With Ravens, No Lead Is Safe

Prior to the start of this season, the Ravens were 31-2 when taking a 10+ point lead in the second half of a game with Lamar Jackson as their QB1. That’s a .939 winning percentage.

This season, they are 4-3 in that same scenario. That’s a .571 winning percentage.

Baltimore has been outscored 65-20 in the second half in losses to the Dolphins, Bills and Giants.

Can Thursday Save Brady?

This is the third time during his NFL career that Tom Brady has found himself at the helm of a 3-4 club. The 2002 Patriots finished 9-7 and missed the playoffs. However, the 2001 Patriots went 11-5 and won the Super Bowl.

Perhaps a TNF game is just what the doctor ordered to get Brady and the Buccaneers turned around. He’s 14-3 SU all-time on Thursdays during his NFL career. Brady also hasn’t lost three games in a row since a career-high four-game skid in 2002.

Injury Bug Biting Both Clubs

Each of the Buccaneers and Ravens are coming into this contest banged up on both sides of the ball. Tampa Bay is listing four starters as out and four others as questionable.

Out for the Buccaneers are TE Cameron Brate (neck), LG Luke Goedeke (lower leg), SS Antoine Winfield (concussion) and RCB Carlton Davis III (hip). Listed as questionable are WR Mike Evans (ankle), WR Julio Jones (knee), RG Shaq Mason (ankle), and LDE Akiem Hicks (foot).

Meanwhile, Baltimore is listing six starters as questionable – RDE Calais Campbell (illness), LILB Josh Byrnes (quad), LT Ronnie Stanley (ankle), TE Mark Andrews (knee), WR Rashod Bateman (foot) and RB Gus Edwards (knee).

Ravens vs Buccaneers Prediction

Last season, Tampa Bay was the NFL’s top run defense, allowing 67.43 yards per game on the ground. This season, the Buccaneers’ defense is surrendering 118.29 YPG rushing. That’s not a recipe for success against a Baltimore team that is built to run the football.

At the same time, Tampa Bay has gone from scoring 31.43 points per game last season to a paltry 16.71 PPG this season. That makes the Buccaneers the #27 scoring offense in the NFL.

  • Pick: Baltimore Ravens -1 (-110), 1 unit
  • TNF record (0-0 ML, 1-5 ATS, 1-0 O/U)
