The last time the Cleveland Browns (1-0, 1-0 ATS) were favored in a road game against the Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1, 0-1 ATS), Bernie Kosar was Cleveland’s quarterback and Chuck Noll was head coach of the Steelers.

For the record, Cleveland won that one in a 51-0 rout in the 1989 season opener as the 2-point chalk. All these years later, Cleveland is again coming to the Steel City as 2-point favorites in the Browns vs Steelers odds for the Week 2 Monday Night Football game. Pittsburgh is 19-1 straight up in the team’s last 20 home games against Cleveland.

Let’s look deeper into the Browns vs Steelers odds and offer you our prediction for this NFL Week 2 showdown.

Browns vs Steelers Betting Splits

In the NFL public betting splits, the people have decided that, on the moneyline, Cleveland rocks. However, when it comes to spread betting, they aren’t so sure about that.

In moneyline splits, the public is going for the Browns to the tune of  73% of handle and 78% of bets. Pittsburgh is 3-1 SU in the last four games facing Cleveland. Cleveland is also pulling 57% of bets in the spread splits. However, spread handle is falling 57% in favor of Pittsburgh. The Steelers are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games against the Browns.

Even with only the third total below 40 points in the last 22 Cleveland vs Pittsburgh games, people are still liking the under. It’s pulling 88% of handle and 51% of bets. The over is 7-4 in the last 11 Browns vs Steelers games with a total of less than 40 points.

Cleveland is the 11th betting choice in the Super Bowl odds at +1800. The Steelers are set with a number of 8.5 in the NFL win totals. Over is at odds of +130, while the under draws a betting line of -150.

Browns vs Steelers Injury Report

There’s real concern in Cleveland after WR Amari Cooper tweaked his groin in practice late this week. He’s listed as questionable for the MNF game. Safety Juan Thornhill (calf) is also showing up as questionable on the Browns injury report.

Pittsburgh also has an issue at WR. Diontae Johnson (hamstring) has been ruled out of Monday’s game. The Steelers also placed DT Cameron Heyward (groin) on IR earlier this week. RB Anthony McFarland (knee) is also out.

Defense Winning for Browns

Cleveland will be arriving in Pittsburgh with the NFL’s #1 defense in tow. The Browns held Joe Burrow and the vaunted Cincinnati offense to just 142 yards in Cleveland’s 24-3 victory during Week 1. They limited Burrow to career lows in passing yards (82) and passer efficiency rating (52.2). Cleveland permitted only two six downs and Cincinnati was 2-of-15 on third-down conversions.

Offensively, though, it wasn’t a memorable afternoon for Cleveland QB Deshaun Watson. The man the Browns opened the vault to sign to a long-term deal threw for just 154 yards and finished with a passer rating of 67.3 passer.

Will Steelers Watt Be Teeing Off on Watson?

If you’re looking for a play in the Browns vs Steelers player props, maybe give the over on sacks by Steelers EDGE TJ Watt a look. Even in last week’s embarrassing 30-7 home loss to San Francisco, Watt was able to get through and sack 49ers QB Brock Purdy three times.

This week, Watt could be getting up close and personal with Browns QB Watson. Cleveland’s Dawand Jones, a rookie tackle out of Ohio State playing his second NFL game, draws the assignment of blocking All Pro Watt, who led the NFL in sacks in 2021.

Cleveland vs Pittsburgh Prediction

The Browns are just 3-4 ATS in the last seven games when they’ve been favored over the Steelers. But they’re 4-3 SU. And Cleveland is also 3-0 ATS in the last three times the Browns have clashed with the Steelers in September.

Browns vs Steelers Picks: Browns -2 (-110)
