  • The Dallas Cowboys are 11-point road favorites over the Tennessee Titans in the Week 17 TNF game
  • Dallas is 1-2 against the spread as an away favorite this season
  • Tennessee is 10-5 ATS as a home underdog since 2107

Not so long ago, the Tennessee Titans (7-8, 8-6-1 ATS) were looking to be solid NFL playoff picks, while the Dallas Cowboys (10-5, 9-6 ATS) were battling to assure their postseason participation.

As these two teams clash in the Week 17 TNF game, the Cowboys are heavily favored to put another nail in the coffin of Tennessee’s fast-fading playoff hopes. The Titans are 0-5 straight up in their last five games. A loss last week to the Houston Texans, the worst team in the NFL, saw Tennessee relinquish the AFC South lead to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Oddsmakers are liking the Cowboys to continue Tennessee’s pain. Dallas is an overwhelming 11-point road favorite. The Cowboys are just 3-3 ATS as an away team this season.

The game is airing exclusively on Amazon Prime as part of a new partnership for Thursday Night Football with Amazon.

Cowboys vs Titans NFL Betting Trends

Despite the massive number being assigned to the Cowboys, the people are all over Dallas in the NFL public betting trends. The Cowboys are garnering 82% of handle and 53% of bets in spread splits. As for the moneyline splits, Dallas is drawing 90% of handle and 85% of bets.

The public split on the over/under is equally as certain that this game is going over the total of 40 points. The over is garnering 72% of bets and 73% of handle. Dallas has gone over in five successive games. Tennessee is 3-9 on the total through the past 12 games.

Tennessee’s poor form of late has seen the Titans drop to the +200 second betting choice to win the AFC South title in the NFL Divisional odds. As far as postseason play is concerned, the Titans are now +200 to qualify in the NFL playoff odds. Already assured of a playoff spot, the Cowboys are the sixth betting choice in the Super Bowl odds at +1100.

Cowboys Are Lighting Up Scoreboard

Dallas is the NFL’s #3 scoring offense. The Cowboys are putting up 28.9 points per game. In four of their last eight games, they’ve put up at least 40 points. Dallas has scored at least 27 points in each of the past eight games.

Bettors can cash in on this Dallas excess. Caesars Sportsbook is offering an odds boost to +130 on a same-game parlay of Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott throwing for over 219.5 yards and over 1.5 touchdowns. He’s hit the over on both of those numbers in six of his last eight games. This offer comes with a maximum bet of $25.

Tennessee Missing Tannehill’s presence

Things have gone from bad to worse since the Titans lost QB Ryan Tannehill for the season due to an ankle injury. With rookie Malik Willis under center, Tennessee has scored just 14 points in each of the club’s past two setbacks.

Willis threw for 20 yards in a 17-14 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. He was good for 99 yards in last week’s 19-14 loss to the Texans. In three career starts, he’s never thrown for 100 yards or a TD. His passer rating hasn’t reached 50.0 in any of those games. It was 34.5 in the loss to Houston last week.

Henry Returns to Practice

The Titans were fearful of losing their other key offensive weapon. However, hopes were boosted when two-time NFL rushing leader Derrick Henry (hip) was returning to practice on Tuesday.

He’s still listed as questionable for TNF, as are starting LG Aaron Brewer (calf) and RT Nicholas Petit-Frere (ankle). Five defensive starters are also questionable for Tennessee – LDE Jeffery Simmons (ankle), WLB Denico Autry (biceps), RILB Zach Cunningham (ankle), SLB Bud Dupree (pectoral), SS Amani Hooker (knee) and RCB Kristian Fulton (groin).

Dallas also has concerns with health on defense. LDE DeMarcus Lawrence (foot), MLB Leighton Vander Esch (neck), SLB Micah Parsons (hand) and SS Jayron Kearse (elbow) are all questionable. Also listed as questionable is RB Tony Pollard (thigh).

Cowboys vs Titans Prediction

Three weeks ago, Dallas was the 17-point home chalk over Houston and needed a late TD to win 27-23. The Cowboys are 1-2 ATS as a double-digit favorite this season.

While losing the last two weeks, the Titans weren’t giving up much. They allowed 17 points to the Chargers and 19 to the Texans. Tennessee has surrendered fewer than 20 points eight times and exactly 20 points in two other games this season.

As a double-digit underdog, Tennessee is 1-1 ATS.

  • Pick: Tennessee Titans +11 (-110)
  • TNF record (0-0 ML, 7-8 ATS, 1-0 O/U)
