Coming off his first NFL MVP award at age 37, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford appears poised to have another monster season on a stacked team that is tied for first in the opening Super Bowl 61 odds.
Yet, the Georgia product isn’t even among the top-five favorites in the 2026 NFL MVP odds.
NFL MVP Odds for 2026
The top three spots are reserved for the three QBs who won immediately before Stafford: Buffalo’s Josh Allen (2024), Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson (2023), and Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes (2022).
Stafford also finds himself trailing a quartet of pivots who have never won before: LA Chargers’ Justin Herbert, Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow, New England’s Drake Maye, and Dallas’ Dak Prescott. Stafford comes in as the eighth-favorite at +1400 (6.67% implied win probability) in the 2026 NFL MVP odds.
Green Bay’s Jordan Love and Chicago’s Caleb Williams round out the top-ten favorites, both at +1500.

Non-QBs in the NFL MVP Odds for 2026
The top non-quarterbacks on the list come in at +15000 (0.66% implied win probability). Four non-QBs are priced at that number: Rams receiver Puka Nacua, 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs, and Falcons running back Bijan Robinson. They are all tied for 30th-favorite, behind 29 quarterbacks.
It’s been over a decade since a non-quarterback won NFL MVP (Adrian Peterson in 2012). Peterson, LaDainian Tomlinson (2006), and Shaun Alexander (2005) are the only non-QBs to win MVP since the year 2000.
No wide receiver or tight end has ever won NFL MVP.
Fernando Mendoza Is on the Board
Indiana’s Heisman-winning QB, Fernando Mendoza, is on the board at +20000 (% implied win probability). A massive favorite to be the first-overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft odds, Mendoza will start his NFL career in Las Vegas unless the Raiders trade out of top spot.
Seattle’s Super Bowl-winning offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is taking over the head coach position with the Raiders, who are expected to move on from veteran Geno Smith after one disastrous season.
