  • Kelce worth a close look at +1200
  • Chiefs TE had ten touchdowns last season
  • Smith-Schuster ready for breakout season in Pittsburgh

Kansas City star tight end Travis Kelce was selected as one of the NFL’s most indispensable offensive players by NFL.com recently.

Coming off his most productive season, Kelce is about to prove why he is considered to be the best pass-catching tight end in the game today.

But will he lead all players in receiving TDs in the upcoming NFL season?

Sportsbooks released odds on which player will lead the NFL in TD receptions in 2019-20 and Kelce is right there at the top at +1200 odds along with Davante Adams and DeAndre Hopkins.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs boasted the most dangerous passing offense in the NFL last season, throwing for 50 TD passes — 11 more than Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.

2019 Most Regular Season Receiving Touchdowns

Player Odds
Davante Adams +1200
DeAndre Hopkins +1200
Travis Kelce +1200
Odell Beckham Jr. +1600
Juju Smith-Schuster +1600
Julio Jones +1600
Antonio Brown +1600
Michael Thomas +1800
Mike Evans +2000
Tyreek Hill +2500
Eric Ebron +2500
Amari Cooper +2800
A.J. Green +2800
Adam Thielen +3000
Tyler Lockett +3000

Odds taken 07/10/2019.

Kelce’s opportunities to lead the league in TD receptions increased with the departure of Kareem Hunt, who often caught passes out of the backfield. Tyreek Hill’s future with the Chiefs continues to look bleak as the wide receiver could face potential suspension under the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

Kelce’s TD receptions have gradually increased with each passing year as the Pro Bowler caught ten of KC’s 50 last season.

However, it’s not often a tight end leads the league in TD catches.

The last time it was accomplished was 2013 when Jimmy Graham reeled in 16. That same season, Vernon Davis had 13 TD catches to finish tied for second.

In 2011, Rob Gronkowski caught a league-leading 17 TD passes, outscoring every wide receiver in the game — including Calvin Johnson of the Detroit Lions, who had 16.

It will be difficult for the Chiefs to match last season’s passing TDs, but that shouldn’t limit Kelce’s chances of reaching 15 or more touchdown receptions.

Adams, Hopkins Favorites

Kelce isn’t the only viable betting option at +1200.

Sportsbooks are predicting Davante Adams and DeAndre Hopkins could also challenge for top spot in TD receptions.

Adams is coming off a stellar season, catching 13 TD passes, which was good for second behind leader Antonio Brown. With the Packers considered to be an early favorite to contend in the NFC North this season, the connection between QB Aaron Rodgers and Adams might be one that will make the wide receiver worth putting your money on.

Adams is coming off a stellar season, catching 13 TD passes.

While taking Hopkins to record the most receiving yards may seem like a no-brainer, weigh your options before putting money down on recording the most TD catches.

Kelce and Adams have the luxury of receiving the ball from established pocket passers. Hopkins on the other hand will have to work a little harder to get scoring opportunities.

Longshots to Look At

With Antonio Brown out of the picture in Pittsburgh, JuJu Smith-Schuster is the No. 1 receiver in the Steelers offense. Sportsbooks have pegged Smith-Schuster as an enticing +1600 underdog to record the most TD receptions in the upcoming season. He had 13 a year ago and could hit that mark as the primary target, but that will depend on the health of the ageing Ben Roethlisberger.

Michael Thomas at +1800 is also another value pick if the New Orleans Saints can repeat the same solid offensive season from 2018-19. Thomas had nine touchdown receptions a year ago, but could see that number increase with a healthy Drew Brees back for another season.
