Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams will take on Carson Wentz and the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00pm ET this Sunday on FOX.

The Rams are coming into this one after waxing the Chicago Bears 34-14 in front of everyone on Sunday Night Football last week. Matthew Stafford looked sharp in his debut and the sky is the limit for the Rams at this point. Indianapolis was beaten soundly by the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1. The game was not as close as the 28-16 score would indicate as the Colts scored a touchdown with less than three minutes left to make it look respectable.

The Rams are favored by 3.5 points in this one after opening at -1.5. Action on Los Angeles is dominating this market;for every bet that comes in on the Colts, two come in on the Rams. As for the total, it’s sitting on 48.5 after opening at 49.

The Los Angeles Rams

Everybody figured Matthew Stafford would quickly assert himself into the Los Angeles Rams’ offense. For starters, he’s a quarterback so he pretty much has to but he’s also thrown for over 4,000 yards in a season eight times in his career. He’s been a gunslinger since his days at the University of Georgia and, judging by the first five minutes of his Rams’ career, he’s still a gunslinger.

Stafford threw for over 300 yards while the Rams’ defense stopped pretty much everything the Chicago Bears could throw at them. Andy Dalton barely topped 200 passing yards although David Montgomery reached 108 yards rushing. Even that milestone had an asterisk as 41 of those yards came on one run.

Los Angeles could be a big problem, not only in the NFC West, but the NFC as a whole.

The Indianapolis Colts

After a couple years with bandaids at quarterback, the Indianapolis Colts appear to have an actual solution at the position. Not that last year’s signal caller, Phillip Rivers, was bad, it’s just that everyone knew he was at the end of his career. The Colts made a move in the offseason to bring in Carson Wentz and hopefully he can deliver on his draft status in Indianapolis.

Their first game didn’t go great as they lost 28-16 to the Seattle Seahawks. It was a game they were never really in as the score was 21-10 at halftime. Still, this loss was not all on Wentz as he dropped back to throw 41 times and was hit 15 of those 41 times. That’s a recipe for disaster if the Colts want to win games this season.

Who Wins?

I don’t even feel like this one is hard. Sure everyone and their brother are on the Rams but I’m not sure we’ve even begun to scratch the surface on how good they are with Matthew Stafford. We’ve never really seen Stafford with a complete team so technically it’s not our fault.

The Colts are going to have issues for as long as they can’t block up front and the Rams are not exactly a team you want to play when you can’t block. Indianapolis will have a hard time running on them and once the Rams jump out to a lead, it will be even harder. I don’t think the Colts can cover 3.5 points Sunday.
