Eagles Rushing to Score

The total rushing touchdown number for Super Bowl 57 is set at 2.5. Based on their postseason performance, the Eagles could cover the over on this game prop all by themselves.

During their 38-7 rout of the New York Giants in the NFC Divisional Round, Hurts, Boston Scott and Sanders, with two, all scored rushing TDs. In the NFC Championship Game vs the San Francisco 49ers, Hurts, Scott and Kenneth Gainwell were good for rushing TDs. The Eagles scored an NFL-leading 32 rushing TDs during regular-season play.

On the flip side, the Chiefs haven’t run for a single TD in either of their playoff victories. However, Kansas City was seventh in the NFL during the regular season with 18 rushing TDs. In Jerick McKinnon and Isiah Pacheco, they have running backs capable of finding the end zone. And there’s also a chance that RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire might be activated from injured reserve in time to play in the Super Bowl.

Pick: Over 2.5 rushing TDs (+130)

Take Price On First Score Field Goal

The Los Angeles Rams launched themselves towards a Super Bowl 56 victory last season by opening the scoring on a Matthew Stafford to Odell Beckham Jr TD pass. But, of late, that outcome was the exception to the rule.

Recent Super Bowl odds history are showing that field goals are trending as the first scoring play in the big game. Last season’s TD ended a four Super Bowl run during which the first scoring play was a field goal.

The last time the Chiefs played in the big game in Super Bowl 55 Kansas City kicker Harrison Butker opened the scoring via a 49-yard field goal. The first scoring play of Super Bowl 54 between KC and San Francisco was a field goal by Robbie Gould of the 49ers.

In Philly’s last visit to the Super Bowl game, Eagles kicker Jake Elliott put the first points on the board in Super Bowl 52 by booting a 25-yard field goal. Go with the trend and take the price on the first score prop being a field goal.

Pick: First scoring play field goal (+160)

High Turnover Rate Rare In Super Bowl

In four of the past five Super Bowl games, there were exactly two turnovers. That’s not surprising. These are the two best teams in the NFL, after all. They didn’t get to the big game by making a lot of mistakes.

The game prop on total Super Bowl turnovers at NFL betting apps is set at 2.5. Go with the under.

Pick: Under 2.5 turnovers (-120)

Count on a Long Field Goal

Remember the days when a 50-yard field goal by an NFL kicker was an impressive feat? These days, NFL placement specialists are so talented, it’s almost a surprise when they miss a 50-yard field goal attempt.

Philadelphia’s Elliott is 5-for-6 from 50+ yards this season, with a long of 56 yards. Injuries have played havoc with Butker this season. The Chiefs kicker is just 3-of-7 from 50+ yards, but does have a long of 62 yards.

There’s been three successful 50+ yard field goals in the past four Super Bowls. That includes a 52-yard connection by Butker in Super Bowl 55.

Pick: Total yards of longest made FG over 47.5 (-105)

In both of their playoff games so far, the Eagles and Chiefs were the team that first got to both 15 and 20 points. However, Kansas City has been a notoriously slow starter in both Super Bowl games with Mahomes at QB.

Take the Eagles to get to 15 points first in this Super Bowl game prop.

Pick: Eagles first to 15 points (-120)

In his two Super Bowl appearances, Mahomes has never held a halftime lead. KC and the 49ers were deadlocked at 10-10 in Super Bowl 54. A year later, Tampa Bay was up on the Chiefs 21-6 at the break for the half.

You never know how a first-time Super Bowl starter like Hurts will be impacted by the jitters, but he’s shown no ill-affects in either of his NFL playoff games so far. At the half, the Eagles were up 28-0 on the Giants and 21-7 on the 49ers.

Look for the Eagles to be ahead at the half, with the underdog Chiefs rallying for the victory. Philadelphia lost the previous time the club was the favorite to win the Super Bowl.

Pick: Eagles/Chiefs +800

Let’s face it, there haven’t been all that many compelling Super Bowls in the history of the game, but this one has the feel of being a really close, hard-fought contest, as the line being offered at USA betting sites certainly reflects.

Expect it come right down to the wire, with the savvy Mahomes leading a late fourth-quarter game-winning drive to earn his second Super Bowl win and the third for Kansas City.

Pick: Chiefs to win by 1-6 points (+380)
