The last time the Chicago Bears (2-3, 2-2-1 ATS) and Washington Commanders (1-4, 1-4 ATS) clashed on the football field in 2019, it was the Bears who were easy 31-15 winners. However, the last eight times these two old NFC standbys have met, Washington won seven of those games.
That’s including a four-game winning streak for the Commanders at Soldier Field. Washington hasn’t lost at Chicago since 2003.
As they meet again in the NFL Week 6 TNF game, oddsmakers are at odds over which team to go with in the betting line. The Commanders vs Bears are set as a pick’em. Washington is 0-4 both straight up and against the spread over the past four games.

In This Game, Wentz Is the Good QB
With his third team in as many years, Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz is fifth in the NFL in passing yardage (1,390 yards) and seventh in yards per game (278.0). He’s also tied for fifth with 10 touchdown passes.
However, Wentz’s old bugaboo is still haunting his success. He’s thrown six interceptions, one from the NFL high. And he’s been sacked 20 times, also one shy of the most in the league. Wentz is 18th in the NFL in passer rating (86.0).
Justin Fields is being sacked at a 17% rate. By far highest in the NFL. Nearly double the second worst, Daniel Jones.
That's being sacked nearly once every five a dropbacks.

Statistically, he’s the good QB in this game. So far, the 2022 season is proving to be an abomination for sophomore Bears starter Justin Fields. He rates 31st out of 32 NFL starting QBs with a passer rating of 73.1.
His three TD passes rank Fields 29th. The passing yardage per game of 135.1 yards for Fields is 32nd in the league. He’s been sacked 18 times.
Wentz, Dotson, Thomas All Questionable for Commanders
Washington is beat up both on the field and on offense. Wentz (shoulder) wide receiver Jahan Dotson (hamstring), tight end Logan Thomas (calf) and RT Sam Cosmi (finger) are all listed as questionable. WLB David Mayo (hamstring) is also questionable.

Wentz has been limited in practice this week. However, both he and head coach Ron Rivera are downplaying the severity of his injury. Thomas was out last week against Tennessee.
Chicago is relatively healthy entering this game. Starting LCB Jaylon Johnson (quad) is out. Reserve WR N’Keal Harry (ankle) is listed as questionable.
Commanders vs Bears Prediction
These are two of the worst offensive teams in the NFL. Chicago ranks 28th in total offense, while the Commanders are 26th. However, the Bears can run the ball. Chicago ranks fifth in the NFL in rushing yards per game (157.4 yards per game).

Washington has turned the ball over eight times this season. The -7 turnover ratio of the Commanders rates 31st in the NFL. Chicago’s defense has forced eight takeaways. Based on Wentz’s history, this one stat could be the telling difference.
- Pick: Chicago Bears ML (-110), 1 unit
- TNF record (0-0 ML, 1-3 ATS, 1-0 O/U) -1.00 unit
