  • The Boston Bruins are -165 home favorites over the Colorado Avalanche in an NHL game scheduled for Saturday, December 3
  • Boston is a perfect 13-0-0 straight up on home ice at TD Garden this season
  • Colorado is 12-1-2 in the last 15 visit to Boston

The Boston Bruins (19-3-0) are the picture of perfection when playing at home this season, but the Colorado Avalanche (13-7-1) aren’t far off perfect in their recent visits to Boston.

The Bruins are 13-0-0 straight up on home ice this season. However, the reigning Stanley Cup champion Avalanche have lost once in regulation in their past 15 visits to Boston, going 12-1-2 SU.

Boston was a winner in two of the last three home games against Colorado, so perhaps the tide is turning. The Bruins won 5-1 over the Avalanche when Colorado most recently was a visitor to Boston On February 22.

As they meet again, oddsmakers are sticking with what’s working. They are setting the Bruins as the -165 home chalk over Colorado.

The Avalanche (+475) and Bruins (+650) are the top two choices in the Stanley Cup odds. Colorado is the -150 odds-on chalk to win the Central in the NHL Division odds. Boston is the -300 favorite to take the Atlantic Division title.

Colorado Avalanche Betting Analysis

Injuries are playing havoc with the Colorado roster and certainly playing a role in the team’s bumpy start to the season. Seven Avalanche regulars are currently out, including defenseman Bowen Byram (undisclosed), and forwards Gabriel Landeskog (knee surgery), Valeri Nichushkin (ankle), Darren Helm (core surgery), Evan Rodrigues (lower-body injury), Kurtis MacDermid (LBI) and Shane Bowers (upper-body injury).

This will be the third game of a four-game road trip for the Avalanche. Colorado took it on the chin 5-0 from the Winnipeg Jets, but then won 6-4 over the Buffalo Sabres. Overall, the Avalanche are 9-3 SU in their last 12 games.

Center Nathan MacKinnon has team-leading 3-4-7 totals through the past five games. Colorado is 31st in the NHL with a 49.3% face-off win rate.

Boston Bruins Betting Analysis

Bruins left-winger Taylor Hall scored two goals in their last game, a 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Hall also was a two-goal scorer in the last Boston game against Colorado.

Forward David Pastrnak is leading the Bruins this season with 14-17-31 totals. However, it’s defenseman Charlie McAvoy, with seven points, who’s Boston’s top scorer through the past five games.

Avalanche vs Bruins Pick & Prediction

These are two of the NHL stingiest defensive teams. Boston (48) has allowed the fewest goals in the league, while Colorado (56) is fourth-best, even though the Avalanche have surrendered nine goals over their past two games.

No wonder then that the total has gone under in seven of Colorado’s last nine games and all five of the last five road games played by the team. The under has also been the winning play in seven of Boston’s last 11 games.
