  • Continuing their run to an NHL record, the Bruins go up against the Blues on Sunday, April 2nd
  • Only four teams in the NHL have fewer home wins than St. Louis this season
  • See the Bruins vs Blues odds below, as well as our best bet and prediction

With just six games remaining in the regular season, the Boston Bruins (59-12-5, 44-32 ATS) have a good shot at setting an NHL record for most points by a team in the regular season. On Sunday, April 2nd, they’ll continue their march to that feat when they visit the St. Louis Blues (35-35-6, 34-42 ATS).

Faceoff for this clash will take place in the afternoon, at 3:30 pm ET with TNT and Sportsnet 360 providing broadcast coverage from the Enterprise Center.

Boston is coming off a 4-3 win on Saturday against the Penguins, a squad they very well could matchup with in the first round of the NHL playoff bracket. On the other side, St. Louis also is playing a back-to-back, after suffering a 6-1 beating to the Predators.

Bruins vs Blues Odds

Game Time Team Puck Line Total Moneyline
Sunday, April 2nd Boston Bruins -1.5 (+115) O 6.5 (+100) -210
3:30 PM St. Louis Blues +1.5 (-145) U 6.5 (-130) +170

Home ice hasn’t reaped too many dividends for the Blues this season and that’s one of the reasons they find themselves outside the playoff picture. They’ve captured just 16 victories at home, while winning 19 on the road. Taking that into account, the Bruins are -210 moneyline road favorites for this affair.

Goals have come in abundance in St. Louis games lately. In the Blues’ last 60 games against Eastern Conference opponents, the over is 41-14-5. The total for this one stands at 6.5 goals.

Bruins 10 Points Away From Setting NHL Record

With six games left in the regular season, Boston has accumulated 123 points, 10 off breaking the record of 132 points set by the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens. Despite a swath of injuries, the Bruins just keep winning, going 9-1 in their last 10 games.

If anybody is going to lead them to the NHL record, it’s David Pastrnak who scored the game-winning goal as part of his hat trick performance against Pittsburgh. He has the 2nd shortest Hart Trophy odds, although we all know that is Connor McDavid’s hardware to claim. The Bruins have now hit the over in seven of their last eight road games.

NHL Teams – Most Points in a Season

Team Season Record Points Points Pct.
Boston Bruins 2022-23 59-12-5 133* (On Pace) .809
Montreal Canadiens 1976-77 60-8-12 132 .825
Detroit Red Wings 1995-96 62-13-7 131 .799
Montreal Canadiens 1977-78 59-10-11 129 .806
Tampa Bay Lightning 2018-19 62-16-4 128 .794

What could hurt Boston’s chances down the stretch is a number of big injuries. Patrice Bergeron, Taylor Hall, Nick Foligno and Derek Forbort are all out against St. Louis on Sunday. However, they’re still the favorites in the Stanley Cup odds, with all those players expected to be back for the postseason.

Nets Being Filled in Recent Blues’ Games

After sending key players away before the trade deadline, the Blues’ NHL playoff odds frittered away. The St. Louis brass made it clear they were getting ready for next season, and essentially throwing in the towel on this campaign.

Inconsistent play has ruled the day since for the Blues, but one thing that you can count on is a ton of goals in games they’ve been involved in from both them, and their opponents.

Since the beginning of March, St. Louis over/under record is 12-3-1, meaning they’ve gone over the betting total in 75% of their games during that span. Over that time, they have combined with their opponents to average 7.94 goals per game. Next to the Oilers, they have provided the 2nd best return on investment when picking them to hit the over this year in the NHL odds.

Bruins vs Blues Pick and Prediction

Although Boston is known for keeping pucks out of the net, they’re missing five-time Selke Trophy winner, Bergeron down the middle and going against a Blues squad that is lighting it up with not much left to play for.

There’s no way we can take a chance on St. Louis to win this game. Boston is striving for a record and can’t stop winning, while St. Louis is just playing out the string.

However, we’re looking for a decent return here and the best bet in the Bruins vs Blues odds lies on the over. Both teams are playing for the 2nd day in a row, and in those situations, they’ve combined to hit the over 17 out of 23 times. Bank on that happening again on Sunday afternoon.

Pick: Over 7 Goals (+100)
