Calgary is listed on the puck line at -125 odds, while New Jersey is +105 to keep the game within two goals. The Flames’ heavy -355 moneyline price means they have a 78% implied probability to win the game. This is a great chance to wager on using Canada sports betting apps too!

Flames Large Favorites in Wednesday NHL Odds

Calgary is listed as massive home favorites against New Jersey in the Wednesday NHL odds. The Flames sit first in the Pacific Division standings with 79 points. Darryl Sutter’s team has climbed into the top-five favorites of the updated 2022 Stanley Cup odds.

Although Calgary is a clearly superior team to New Jersey, the Flames have gone through some minor speed bumps lately. Calgary is 6-3-1 in their past 10 games, losing 3-0 to Colorado in their most recent contest Sunday. The loss came in the second half of a back-to-back, however.

The Flames will be well-rested for their return home Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday. The Flames haven’t been overly dominant on home ice, but they have won 14 of their past 16 games at the Saddledome. Calgary is 18-5-5 overall in their own building this season.

The Flames have elite offensive starpower in Johnny Gaudreau, Matthew Tkachuk and Elias Lindholm, while their defense is also rock-solid. Projected starting goalie Jacob Markstrom has posted a shutout in nine of his 46 starts and is gaining traction in the Vezina Trophy odds.

Devils Betting Analysis as Road Underdogs

New Jersey was obviously going to be underdogs against Calgary on Wednesday, but their +255 moneyline price gives them just a 28% implied probability of getting the win. That price is somewhat justified by the fact the Devils have gone only 8-18-2 on the road in 2021-22.

Although New Jerseys sits second-last in the Metropolitan Division with 49 points, they’ve put together a decent stretch of play recently. The Devils are 5-5-0 in their past 10 contests entering Wednesday’s game, including a 2-1 home win over the Ducks on Saturday.

Where it gets tough to target the Devils in the Wednesday NHL odds is the back-to-back situation. New Jersey played in Vancouver on Tuesday and now travels to Calgary, where they’ll play their third game in four nights. The Devils are 1-8 in their last nine games in a 3-in-4 situation.

The Devils also have a couple key injuries that impact their betting value. Starting goalie MacKenzie Blackwood is out indefinitely with a left heel injury, while captain Nico Hischier is questionable for Wednesday’s game with a lower-body issue.

Devils vs Flames Pick & Prediction

This is as lopsided as a matchup as you’ll find in the NHL odds. Not only is Calgary a much better team, but they also haven’t played down to New Jersey’s level in recent years. The Flames have won seven straight contests against the Devils dating back to 2017.

Coming off a disappointing loss in Denver, a well-rested Flames squad should have their way with a fatigued Devils team Wednesday. Here are some betting trends to keep in mind for Devils vs Flames:

  • Flames are 12-2 in their last 14 games as a home favorite
  • Flames are 6-1 in their last 7 games playing on 2 days rest
  • Devils are 5-16 in their last 21 games playing on 0 days rest

With a projected goalie matchup of Jacob Markstrom (.928 SV%) vs Jon Gillies (.887 SV%), trust the Flames to bounce-back at home with a convincing win. Calgary has covered the puck line in three straight contests vs NJD and are a good bet to continue the trend on Wednesday.

Pick: Flames -1.5 (-125)
