The Utah Mammoth (43-33-6, 21-17-3 away) are heading back home with the split they wanted, and look for back-to-back wins against the Vegas Golden Knights (39-26-17, 20-12-9 home) in Game 3 of their opening round series Friday night.
This series has been close across the board, so close that as of late Thursday night, the NHL odds listed both teams with identical odds on the moneyline.
Puck drop is set for 9:30pm ET from the Delta Center in Utah, with TBS/HBO Max carrying the broadcast coverage.
Read below as I share my prediction, prop picks and the updated odds for Game 3.
Golden Knights vs Mammoth Prediction
- Pick: Under 6.0 goals (-120 at bet365)
The Mammoth could very well be up 2-0 heading home, but they’ll take the split after gutting out a nice 3-2 win in Game 2.
It’s the first regulation loss anyone has dealt the Golden Knights since John Tortorella took over the reins as head coach, and now he’ll have to find the right combination to unlock as the Mammoth have now taken three of the last four in this head-to-head.
Save for a Vegas 4-2 win in the opener of this series, the Golden Knights have scored a total of three goals in the other three games, while allowing 12 against.
While Game 3 isn’t a make-or-break for either team, it’s been a great indicator of a series result.
When a best-of-seven series is tied 1-1, the winner of Game 3 holds an all-time series record of 245-124 (.664). Teams winning Game 3 in the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs went on to win five of six series.
But rather than picking a winner, the best bet is to stay with the total. The sportsbooks, for some reason, are wary of bringing the total down lower, giving Under bettors a 6.5 total in each of the first two games of the series.
Except for the first game these teams ever played, a 4-3 OT win in November 2024, these teams have scored less than seven goals in each of the next seven games.
That line has finally moved down, but bet365 is still offering the total at six goals, which has an Under record of 3-0-4.
Until these teams can get the offense cooking (both clubs ranked just outside the Top 10 in goals against), I’m staying solid on the Under.
Golden Knights vs Mammoth Player Prop Picks
- Logan Cooley – OVER 0.5 Points (-165 at bet365): Cooley became the youngest United States-born player in NHL history to score in each of his first two career playoff games when he tallied in Game 2, and going back to the regular season, he’s picked up at least a point in nine of his last 12.
- Mark Stone – Anytime Goalscorer (+220 at bet365): The Delta Center should be rocking, so I like the idea of a veteran like Mark Stone settling things down with a goal. He’s scored in each game this series, and going back to the regular season, has four goals in his last four road games.

The interactive widget above will update automatically throughout the day.
At bet365, both teams have -110 moneyline odds, but FanDuel has Utah as the shorter -104 favorite at their book. Vegas covering by two goals on the puckline offers a nice +220 payout at bet365, while Utah keeping it a one-goal game is a less attractive -267 payout at Caesars.
Over bettors should stay at FanDuel. where the total is set at 5.5 goals, while Under bettors can still find this total at six goals at bet365.
