- MyBookie doesn’t like Patrik Laine’s odds of recording five plus hat tricks this season
- The Finnish forward already has three hat tricks in just over three weeks
- Should you bet the over?
It seems foolish that MyBookie is shutting down their hopes for a Patrik Laine five-plus hat trick year this early. The kid is smoking hot right now and already has three hatties in the month of November alone and yet here we are.
Patrik Laine Hat Trick Odds
|Total Regular Season Hat Tricks by Patrik Laine in 2019||Odds at MyBookie (11/26/2018)|
The Finnish forward posted five goals Saturday night in St. Louis giving him three hat tricks in just over three weeks. He did have a bit of a slower start to the year in October to take into consideration, notching just three goals and five points in 12 games. However, since his first trickery performance of the year on November 1st, he’s scored 16 goals in 10 games.
To put that into better perspective, the entire Phoenix Coyotes team has scored 18 goals through that same span!

He’s on pace to set career numbers in goals with 19 thus far through just 22 games. He is also on-pace to set a career record with hat tricks as well. He has three so far through 22 games, which puts him on pace for 11.16 total this year. That would also put him on pace to beat the record that was twice set by Wayne Gretzky (1981-82, 1983-84) of 10 three-goal or more games in one regular season.

The odds on this one are leaning heavily in favour or Laine beating the five hat trick mark. Sure, there will tough opponents ahead, but with his health well intact, there doesn’t seem to be too much standing in his way. The NHL’s most recent first star of the week was all smiles about the news and what lies ahead.

Hat tricks don’t come to players on bad teams, so the Jets (+1000 odds to win the Stanley Cup) need to succeed to keep Laine in the hatty conversation. They are now 6-3-1 through their last 10, though, so they seem to be on the right path. They are also 13-7-2 overall, which is good enough for fourth in the Central.

Now, also keep in mind, all of Laine’s hatty performances have come when his team registers four goals or more. Conveniently, they will face the Blackhawks, Blues, Devils and Flyers – all teams that are in the top eight for goals against – within the next few weeks. In other words, Patrik could potentially beat the bet before Christmas.
