Some analysts have predicted a Stanley Cup rematch of 2006, and if that happens, you’re in for a preview on Thursday when the Hurricanes visit the Oilers in Edmonton. Connor McDavid is the favorite in the Hart Trophy odds, but Carolina was one of the best defensive teams in the league last year, so they may be able to slow him down.

Fresh off a two-goal, four-point effort on Monday, Alexander Ovechkin continues his quest for 800 goals against Ottawa at the Canadian Tire Centre with the puck scheduled to drop a 7:00 pm. The Great 8 has 35 goals in 51 career games against the Sens and sits 18 tallies shy of becoming only the third player with 800 career NHL goals.

Sharks vs Rangers Prediction

The New York Rangers should be climbing up the board very soon in the Eastern Conference Title odds. They are filling the net with 17 goals from their first four games propelling them to a 3-1-0 record.

For the Sharks, goals have been hard to come by. Winless in their first five games, they’ve jumped out to an early lead in the Connor Bedard sweepstakes.

Sharks vs Rangers Recent Results

Date Home-Away Moneyline Puck Line Over/Under
01/13/2022 SJ 0 – NYR 3 NYR NYR Under
12/03/2021 NYR 1 – SJ 0 NYR SJ Under
02/22/2020 NYR 3 – SJ 2 NYR SJ Under
12/12/2019 SJ 3 – NYR 6 NYR NYR Over
10/30/2018 SJ 3 – NYR 4 (SO) NYR NYR Over

Not only are the Sharks winless so far this regular season, but they also haven’t beaten the New York Rangers in almost five years! With Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad lighting the lamp with regularity, expect the Blueshirts to pump San Jose on Broadway.

There’s a reason the Rangers are such heavy favorites in the Thursday NHL odds, and the best pick is to take them on the puck line in what should be an easy home victory.

Pick: New York Rangers Puck Line -1.5 (+106)

Canucks vs Wild Pick

The Wild and Canucks are both scoring a ton of goals, but are allowing more into their own net. Just the type of firewagon hockey we love to see. The over/under total in the Canucks vs Wild odds has been set at 6.5 goals. In three games so far, the Wild and their opponents have combined for 32 goals! An average of over 10 per game.

Meanwhile, the average amount of goals scored in Vancouver’s four games so far is 7.5 per game. Obviously, these totals likely won’t continue all year, but it’s a trend that we should bet on and ride until either team shows us a reason to pick differently. Right now, the best prediction in the Canucks vs Wild odds is to take the over.

Pick: Over 6.5 Goals (-132)
