NASCAR travels to Hampton, Georgia, for the fifth race of the 2022 season. The race comes from the Atlanta Motor Speedway. The odds feel like a super speedway race. Kyle Larson is the early favorite yet again at +400 in the NASCAR Folds Of Honor QuikTrip 500 odds. Watch the cars, who showed good speed intervals last week. There is a small pattern of sorts.

This is a week after the Ruoff Mortgage 500, where the restarts got the best out of a fast Ryan Blaney and Ross Chastain. Chase Briscoe swooped in and stole their glory for his first ever win in the top tier.

Let’s peak at the Folds Of Honor QuikTrip 500 odds and figure out which drivers are the best bets.

Kyle Larson and Ryan Blaney Favored At Atlanta

NASCAR drivers will run on the 1.54-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway when the flag drops for the Sunday afternoon race beginning around 3:30 PM ET. This track could cause a little more chaos. It is an intermediate track with a super speedway twist that favors those who that can adjust for that fourth turn. Conditions will be pleasant, with Mostly Sunny skies and temperatures likely in the Upper 60s.

Larson has excellent track pedigree at Atlanta,  His driver rating of 118.9 tops all active drivers. There is one problem. He has just one top ten in those three races.

Currently, Larson is.a co-favorite at +1000 odds (started +450). Teammate Chase Elliott now stands at +1200 (+1100 at Caesars Sportsbook). But, when it comes to Caesars Sportsbook, the No. 5 driver has the same odds. Joey Logano joins him and Blaney at +1000, however.

Now, what transpires at Atlanta?

The choose rule along with another wrinkle will make this race interesting. Drivers on the inside of each row can choose their line on restarts. This will be something to keep an eye on. Ryan Blaney, Kevin Harvick, and Larson all could benefit here with their previous knowledge. But…

Recent Winners

Year Race Winner Pole Position Most Laps Led
2021 Ryan Blaney — Team Penske Denny Hamlin — Joe Gibbs Racing Kyle Larson — Hendricks Motorsport Racing
2020 Kevin Harvick — Stewart-Haas Racing Chase Elliott — Hendricks Motorsport Racing Kevin Harvick — Stewart-Haas Racing
2019 Brad Keselowski — Team Penske Aric Almirola — Stewart-Haas Racing Kyle Larson — Chip Ganassi Racing
2018 Kevin Harvick — Stewart-Haas Racing Kyle Busch — Joe Gibbs Racing Kevin Harvick — Stewart-Haas Racing
2017 Brad Keselowski — Team Penske Kevin Harvick — Stewart-Haas Racing Kevin Harvick — Stewart-Haas Racing

The race is usually 325 laps and has been decided three times in overtime since 2008.

Can Joe Gibbs Racing Put It All Together?

Sports bettors have scratched their heads with this team. The Joe Gibbs Racing drivers took a gut punch in the NASCAR Cup Series odds, but Kyle Busch was in the top-ten at least.

Three of the top five active drivers at Atlanta are from JGR. Yet, that damn Turn 4?

The difference between Daytona and say Atlanta will be that Turn 4. The banking does not ramp up like it used to. It staggers from 2 to 18 then well over 20 degrees. This creates a different effect and will have pit crews and drivers guessing all race long. Hamlin is on to something.

Folds Of Honor QuikTrip 500 Predictions & Picks

The driver that doesn’t normally rank well at Atlanta is Joey Logano. The No. 22 Team Penske driver is a co-favorite at Caesars because he performs well on a reduced horsepower package.

Check this out. Logano is one to look at (mentioned above) along with Chase Elliott. Speaking from the middle, look again to drivers like Aric Almirola (three top tens – +2500), Ross Chastain (+2000), and even Bubba Wallace (+2500). Wallace did win the rain-shortened Talladega last year and has a good car here along with Kurt Busch.

The stage format is 105-105-115 for laps.  With the narrowing of the track, getting into Turn 1 and out of Turn 4 may create more chaos. NASCAR racers say challenge accepted.

Here are our best bets:

  • Top Pick: Ryan Blaney to win (+1000 at Barstool Sportsbook)
  • Middle Shooters: Tyler Reddick (+1600 at Barstool), Bubba Wallace (+2500)
  • Longshots: Austin Dillon (+3000), Chris Buescher (+6000)
