  • The NASCAR season heads to Virginia for the Toyota Owners 400 set to run on Sunday, April 2nd, 2023
  • The contending favorites include Christopher Bell, William Byron,  Kevin Harvick, and Kyle Larson
  • Below are the Toyota Owners 400 betting odds and picks ahead of Sunday afternoon’s race

NASCAR heads eastbound to Richmond, Virginia, for the seventh race of the 2023 season. Richmond Raceway is a 0.75-mile short track D-shaped oval. The Toyota Owners race distance totals 300 miles (400 laps). Will the short track create more carnage on Sunday?

This weekend’s race is a week after the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix where Tyler Reddick blazed past everyone in triple overtime as he cruised to a 1.4 second victory over Kyle Busch. William Byron was a victim of the cautions and dropped to fifth in his bid to win three straight races.

The table below lists the complete slate of NASCAR Cup Series odds for the Toyota Owners 400 (win, podium finish, and top-ten finish). Under the table, find the Totoyta Owners 400 predictions and best bets for this weekend’s hot NASCAR action.

Austin Dillon +8000 +1800 +250

William Byron enters this race as a +450 favorite to win, followed by Kevin Harvick (+550), and Kyle Larson at +600.  This track was where these drivers placed second, third, and fifth last Spring. However, Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr. stole the show. Truex Jr. hawked the stage points and Hamlin nabbed the victory late.

NASCAR drivers get those cars moving on the 0.75-mile, 70-160-170 stage lap setup when the flag drops for the Sunday afternoon race beginning again just after 3:30 pm ET on FOX.

William Byron Has Been Fast Everywhere

Honestly, the Hendrick Motorsports Racing driver is almost a favorite across the board for this Sunday’s race in Richmond. Now, Byron had the second fastest car (at times fastest) along with Tyler Reddick last week in Texas. Byron finished fifth at COTA, but led 28 laps out of 75. Look at how he won Las Vegas and Phoenix, for example. Phoenix features the closest current race correlation to what we will see this weekend at Richmond.

Now, the Caesars Sportsbook odds strayed very slightly but nothing drastic. Watch some of the longer shots as Martin Truex Jr. and Denny Hamlin are at +750 and +800 for this race. Truex Jr. and Hamlin could finish at or close to the top five. The problem is this race almost feels too predictable.

Will Toyota Strike Back Again?

With the Hendrick decision coming down, does this give an opportunity for Toyota to strike back again?  However,  NASCAR Cup Series odds shifted to ride with Chevy (first four drivers). That is not a surprise. However, the real question is can Toyota win again this week. Tyler Reddick dominated COTA and traditionally, Hamlin and Truex Jr. do very well here and one cannot count out Christopher Bell.

Finding solid correlation this time of year can be tough but looking back at Phoenix this year and Richmond last year seems to indicate Toyota could have a pretty good afternoon.

Practice and qualifying are back-to-back on Saturday morning. Weather permitting, that should give us some hints on Sunday.

Toyota Owners 400 Predictions & Picks

Yes, Partly Sunny conditions are likely on Sunday with temperatures around 60 and little chance of rain. However, Saturday’s qualifying could be impacted by some rain and winds of 20-30+ mph.

Qualifying should prove to be interesting. Look at how quick Tyler Reddick was in practice and how it overlapped into the race last week.

Will someone come from outside the top 10? The last two winners at Richmond qualified 13th.  With the short track, anything is possible.

Could last Spring’s top five be very close to what we see again this year? It’s very possible. Again, check social media often for updates. Finally, watch out for Kevin Harvick. He led Phoenix before the caution and won’t make that pit mistake again.

Here are our best bets:

  • Top Pick:  Kevin Harvick to Win (+700)
  • Other Contenders: Denny Hamlin (+700), William Byron (+600), Martin Truex Jr. (+900)
  • Longshots:  Brad Keselowski (+2500), Chris Buescher (+3000), Ryan Preece (+15000)
