The Dutch giants have one win and one defeat thus far in Europe, most recently suffering a 2-1 loss to Liverpool on Matchday 2 in mid-September. Napoli meanwhile, has a perfect six points from two games, beating Rangers 3-0 a few weeks ago. Perhaps their +3500 Champions League odds do hold value.

Over/Under & Spread

Over 2.5 goals boast -170 odds here, while the under is at +140. The negative odds could be appealing considering both of these clubs comfortably hit the over in each of their first two UCL matches.

Ajax vs Napoli Preview

The Eredivisie side is actually winless in their last three competitive games, most recently playing to a 1-1 draw over the weekend in league action with a lower-table club. Prior to that, Ajax lost to AZ Alkmaar and Liverpool.

Alfred Schreuder’s men looked set to collect a lone point at Anfield until Joel Matip scored a late winner in the 89th minute for the hosts, handing the visitors a gut-wrenching defeat. Mohamed Kudus produced the goods for Ajax, also netting in their UCL opener against Rangers. They’ve now scored five goals in the competition and conceded just twice. Napoli will be a tough test, but a win here could potentially take them to the top of the group.

You’ll be flat out to find a team in Europe right now that is thriving like Napoli. The Italians sit in first place in Serie A and have yet to lose a single fixture this term across all competitions. On Saturday, Luciano Spalletti’s group took down Torino 3-1 thanks to a brace from Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa within the opening 12 minutes.

In the Champions League, they’ve also looked phenomenal. Matchday 1 was a surprising 4-1 thrashing of last season’s finalists Liverpool, followed by another 3-0 victory versus Rangers. Napoli didn’t actually find the back of the net until James Sands was sent off in the 55th minute, with Matteo Politano opening the scoring from the penalty spot shortly after. Giacomo Raspadori and Tanguy Ndombele both added goals as well.

Ajax vs Napoli Projected Lineups and Injuries

Ajax Projected Lineup: Pasveer; Rencsh, Timber, Bassey, Blind; Berghuis, Alvarez, Taylor; Tadic, Kudus, Bergwijn

Injuries & Absences: Kaplan, Sanchez

Napoli Projected Lineup: Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Kim, Rui; Zambo Anguissa, Lobotka; Kvaratskhelia, Zielinski, Politano; Simeone

Injuries & Absences: Osimhen, Gaetano

Napoli frontman Victor Osimhen is the only notable absence here as he continues to battle an injury. Giovanni Simeone should be in line for a start as a result.

Ajax vs Napoli Pick

Both managers have relatively full-strength squads to choose from, but it’s frankly impossible to look past just how fantastic Napoli is at the moment. I believe their quality up top will shine through, moving to three games unbeaten in Europe’s premier competition.

Pick: Napoli +205
