  • It’s a dead heat in La Liga’s Matchday 31, as Real Madrid (-625) and Barcelona (-270) sit tied atop the league table on 65 points facing home matches against Mallorca (+1250) and Athletic Bilbao (+680) respectively
  • Last-place Espanyol are underdogs (+230) on the road against struggling Real Betis (+115) in what equates to a must-win for the former in their relegation battle

The matches are coming thick and fast in Spain’s La Liga, as one matchday bleeds into the next with zero days in between.

The title is still up for grabs with Real Madrid now having as short as -175 La Liga odds, and the relegation race is on fire with three points separating 17th-place Eibar (safety) from 18th-place Mallorca (relegation) at the moment. Leganes and Espanyol remain on the outside looking in, a further two points behind Mallorca.

Matchday 31 kicks off with Villarreal (+185) and Sevilla (+168) on Monday afternoon (1:30 p.m. ET) in a matchup with serious European implications.

All odds taken June 22

Pick 1: Levante vs. Atletico Madrid

Levante (11-5-14) are as mid-table as mid-table comes: 11th in the table, well outside the European places and 12 points clear of relegation, they are playing out the string at this point.

Atletico Madrid (13-13-4) have turned on the style since the COVID restart, claiming seven of nine possible points and smashing Osasuna 5-0 last week.

Last Wednesday’s offensive explosion aside, however, this is still an Atleti team that has struggled to score away from home (1.13 goals/game) at times and a Levante side that concedes fewer than a goal/game (0.93) at home.

PICK: U 2, 2.5 (+100)

Pick 2: Real Madrid vs. Mallorca

With the title race in full swing, all eyes will be on Madrid’s training ground for Real’s (19-8-3) clash with Mallorca (7-5-18).

At face value, this is an obvious Madrid win. Despite the fact Mallorca stunned Los Blancos in the return fixture back in October, Real is undefeated (11-4-0) and averaging 2.2 goals/game at home this season while Mallorca are a pitiful 1-2-11 away from Son Moix.

Hammer the spread or hammer the goals total, as Mallorca has struggled to stop teams with attacking talent (0-4 v Barcelona, 3-3 at Betis, 0-3 at Sociedad) during the latter half of this season.

PICK: O 3.5 (-101)

Pick 3: Real Betis vs. Espanyol

These are nervous times for both Real Betis (8-10-12) and Espanyol (5-9-16) as we enter the final eight games of the 2019-20 season.

Betis sacked manager Rubi following Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Bilbao, and have appointed their sporting director as interim boss until the end of the season; eight points clear of relegation, Betis are not out of the woods yet.

Espanyol, meanwhile, slumped to a disappointing 3-1 defeat vs. Levante on Saturday and now sit co-bottom of the league with Leganes on 24 points, five from safety.

Abelardo’s Espanyol are surprisingly a tighter team defensively on the road (1.46/game) than at home (1.8), but the truth is Betis should be able to snag a goal or two at home — especially with the expected surge in form that comes with a new manager.

PICK: Betis pk, -0.5 (-120)
