Inter Miami vs Orlando City Prediction

Messi and Miami get yet another home game at DRV PNK on Wednesday.

The new-look Inter Miami with the additions of Messi and Sergio Busquets have come out swinging with a 2-1 win over Cruz Azul and a 4-0 beatdown of Atlanta United in the Leagues Cup so far. Messi has three goals and one assist already for the Herons. But Robert Taylor has also been key with three goals himself.

Orlando’s Leagues Cup campaign got started with a 1-1 draw with Houston, before going on to win 5-4 in PKs.

Then versus Mexican side Santos Laguna, Orlando won 3-2 with a late 92’ winner from Wilder Cartagena. Duncan McGuire also got on the scoresheet, something he did in both games.

In MLS, Miami is 15th in the East with 18 points and Orlando is 5th with 37 points.

Miami only have five wins, but four of those have come at home where they are 4-2-5, scoring 15 and allowing 15. Still, the 14 home points they have are only better than Minnesota and Colorado in MLS.

Orlando’s 18 road points meanwhile are fewer than only RSL’s 21. So they should be feel confident going on the road to Miami for this one. They’re road record is 5-3-3, scoring and allowing 16 goals each.

We’ve seen this matchup back in May in MLS where Orlando went into Miami and won 3-1.

This time I think you need to ride the Messi momentum and bet on the Herons and/or on any of the Messi props as he’s come out on fire.

  • Inter Miami vs Orlando City Picks: Inter Miami to win (-143)

New England Revolution vs Atlas Prediction

Atlas have started the Apertura in mixed form at 1-1-1. They beat Cruz Azul 2-0, lost to Monterrey 1-0 and drew Santos 0-0.

Their first Leagues Cup match saw them beat NYCFC 1-0, before also beating Toronto 1-0 on Sunday when they scored two mins into the match. So high-scoring games are unusual for Atlas. In fact, across all comps going back to last season the Under 2.5 is on a perfect 9-0 run.

They have a decent record over that stretch as well going 5-2-2.

In Leagues Cup though, they were handed two cupcakes to start with.

NYCFC are 13th in the East at 5-11-8. Across all comps, they had just one win in 17 before playing TFC.

Toronto is 14th at 3-10-11. Toronto is now winless in 11 and have been shutout in six straight.

Even with a makeshift roster, TFC did at least outshoot Atlas 13-12 and 6-4.

Now Atlas has a big step up in class versus New England. The Revs are second in MLS at 12-7-4 and are still undefeated at home at 9-3-0, scoring 29 versus 10 goals allowed. They’ve scored in every home game this season, and across all comps are 11-3-1 at Gillette Stadium in their past 15 at home. They’ve also scored multiple home goals in each of their past six and in 9/11.

Home or away they have only two losses 12 in all comps.

In Leagues Cup they drew 0-0 with NYRB before losing in PKs, and then brushed aside San Luis 5-1, behind a hat-trick from Giacomo Vrioni and had a 4-1 lead at half. Revs keep rolling at home here in our Leagues Cup predictions.

  • New England vs Atlas Picks: New England to win (+110)

Philadelphia Union vs DC United Prediction

All MLS here, with 3rd in the East Philly hosting 9th in the conference DC.

The Union entered Leagues Cup off 2-0 and 2-1 wins in MLS and have now won four straight after defeating Tijuana 3-1 and Queretaro 5-1.

They get DC in the Round of 32 who beat MTL 1-0 on the road before losing 3-0 to Pumas at home. They were out-classed by the Liga MX sdie being outshot 19-5 and 6-0 in shots on target.

These teams played once in MLS this season in Philadelphia in a 0-0 draw. But last year Philly won 6-0 and 7-0.

The Union at home are exceptional.

They’re 8-2-1 (23 GF/7 GA), have scored in nine of those 11 home games in MLS and across all competitions, the Union have just one loss in their past 35 home games. The Union for the win here.

  • Philadelphia Union vs DC United Picks: Philadelphia to win (-138)

Portland Timbers vs Monterrey Prediction

Monterrey have come out flying to start the Apertura at 2-1-0, scoring five and conceding only one.

They’ve suffered only one defeat in their past 11 and that came versus Tigres in the semifinals of the Clausura. They also have just three defeats in their past 25.

Only twice in those 25 games have they failed to score. In 21 of those 25, there have been at least two total goals scored in their games.

All of those stats updated after their 4-2 comeback win over Seattle on Sunday. Despite Seattle taking an early 2-0 lead after just six minutes, Monterrey had it tied by halftime, took the lead in the 48′ and another in the 63’. Of those four goals, German Berterame had three. Monterrey outshot Seattle 17-7 and 9-5.

They had also beaten RSL in their first Leagues Cup match 3-0.

So Los Rayados are on fire right now and face Portland, who are currently 12th in the West at 6-8-9.

The Timbers entered Leagues Cup on a high with a 3-2 win over Columbus and followed that up with 2-0 win over San Jose in the tournament. While they started strong versus Tigres in game two with Evander scoring in the 24’ min, Tigres drew level in the 42’ right before Evander received a second yellow and was sent off in the 44’. Portland almost held on for the draw but Tigres found their breakthrough in the 80’ for the winner.

Prior to those two aforementioned wins, Portland had just one win 10 and now will be without Evander. It has to be a Monterrey win for this Leagues Cup prediction.

  • Portland vs Monterrey Picks: Monterrey to win (+125)

Chicago Fire vs Club America Prediction

Club America are one of the most successful if not the most successful team in North American soccer history. But they just suffered one of their worst results in recent memory losing 4-1 to the Columbus Crew on Monday. It was the first time they had allowed four goals in a game in over three years.

In their first Leagues Cup game, they equally embarrassed St. Louis, winning 4-0.

Despite the loss, America has only three losses in 13, four in 24, and five in 39 in Liga MX. They’ve scored in 13 straight and in 21/22 in Liga MX. In those 22, Over 1.5 goals is 20-2.

Those scoring streaks have extended further when you factor in their Leagues Cup results.

The Fire came into the tournament hot with three straight wins and wins in 5/6, keeping clean sheets in four of those wins.

They’ve stayed hot with a 3-2 win over Minnesota and 1-1 draw with Puebla, before losing 10-9 in PKs.

But it hasn’t been easy. They were down 2-1 versus Minnesota and scored two goals late. They were down 1-0 verssu Puebla, before Puebla took a red card and they scored off the ensuing free kick late.

Oddly, all the goals in Chicago games have come late. Of the seven combined goals, all have come in the 62’ min or later. Six of seven have come in the 70’ minute or later.

America didn’t need the win to advance and did rotate some players versus Columbus. They’ll want a big response here and are just a better team than the Fire. Getting them at plus-money in the Leagues Cup odds looks like a great bet.

  • Chicago vs Club America Picks: Club America to win (+130)

Columbus Crew vs Minnesota United Prediction

Columbus won their group after a 2-1 win over St. Louis and a hugely impressive 4-1 win over America. While Lucas Zelarayan has been sold to Saudi Arabia, they still have Cucho Hernandez, who’s scoeed three goals in his two Leagues Cup games.

The Crew score a ton. Their 45 goals in MLS is a league-high. They also concede a lot, 33, which is fourth-most among the current 18 playoff teams.

They’re 3.4 goals per match is the highest in MLS. Over 2.5 is 14-9 and Over 1.5 is 22-1.

And the Crew have scored in 26 of 28 games across all comps in 2023.

While Columbus just sold a star player, Minnesota bought one in, with the addition of Teemu Pukki and the Loons have been better for it. They also got back Emanuel Reynoso recently and were 2-2-1 heading into Leagues Cup

They beat Puebla 4-0 despite being down a man for most of the game, then lost 3-2 to Chicago.

In all comps, there’s been at least 2+ goals in the each of the past 12 Minnesota games. There’s been 3+ in each of the past eight. I see goals here in my soccer picks today between two of the form teams in MLS right now.

  • Columbus Crew vs Minnesota United Picks: Both teams to score & over 2.5 (-105)
