Real Madrid vs Manchester City Prediction for Semifinal Leg 2

Manchester City dominated most of the first leg, and were left wondering how they only have a one-goal advantage as the tie heads to Madrid. City had 2.8 expected goals to under 1.5 for the away side, but Real did enough to give themselves a fighting chance in the second leg. Carlo Ancelotti’s team are still out at +335 to progress.

Both teams are coming off emphatic 4-0 wins at the weekend, with Real seeing off Espanyol and Manchester City hammering Leeds at Elland Road. Including the first leg, it’s four straight wins for Pep Guardiola’s side with 16 goals scored in the process. It’s touch and go between City and Liverpool to be considered the best side in the world right now, though it would be foolish to write off such an experienced Real side, particularly after their dramatic home leg against Chelsea.

No player in this City team has won the Champions League. It’s a trophy that has eluded Guardiola since he left Barcelona, with the Spaniard often tripping himself up with misguided tactical decisions. Ancelotti is a master of the competition and he boasts a squad packed with Champions League winners. In Karim Benzema, Real arguably have the best player in the world leading their attack alongside the always dangerous Vincius Junior, who tormented Chelsea over two legs.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City Best Bet

This should be another brilliant game for the neutral. City are clearly the better team, and are rightly favored to win on the night, but there will be plenty of entertainment along the way. Where City missed numerous clear chances in the first leg, Real were clinical, and they will need to be every bit as ruthless if they are to overturn this deficit under the lights on Wednesday.

Just as was the case in the first leg, City will have the majority of possession. Real were overrun at times in midfield with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric struggling against the younger legs of their opponents. Benzema and Vinicius only need a couple of chances, though, and they will get plenty of opportunities in transition.

Real will need to be relatively aggressive given the deficit, however. This has the makings of an end-to-end match once again, and another high-scoring affair is likely. City should have enough to get the win on the night, but Real will make them work for it.
