We followed the odds for the 2025 NHL Hart Trophy all year, charting one of the rare seasons where a goaltender stole the MVP conversation.
Connor Hellebuyck carried the Winnipeg Jets with a 2.00 goals-against average and eight shutouts, climbing from a preseason afterthought to the front of the market. He became the first goalie to win the Hart since Carey Price in 2015.
The final vote came down to Hellebuyck and Leon Draisaitl, with Nikita Kucherov the third finalist. Our tracking below lays out how the race got there.
Top Hart Trophy Contenders
- [June 12] Connor Hellebuyck won the 2025 Hart in a tight final vote over Leon Draisaitl, drawing 81 of 191 first-place ballots. He is the first goaltender to win MVP since Carey Price in 2015.
- [March 3] Leon Draisaitl has emerged as the odds-on favorite at -130 to win the 2025 Hart Trophy, while Connor Hellebuyck (+120) and Nathan MacKinnon (+750) round out the top three favorites.
