WNBA Title Odds Movement Timeline

• April 17 – A number of teams got a quality bump in odds after the 2026 WNBA Draft, but maybe none more so than the Sky, perhaps less for the draft itself and more for the offseason roster overhaul. Chicago went from averaging +18125 just a month ago to +9125.
• March 17 – With the start of the WNBA season two months away, there’s been little odds movement at the top of the table. The Lynx still lead the way at +300, but ’25 champs Las Vegas are now getting +310, while the Liberty are now a little bit longer at +370.
• October 14 – It’s going to be tight at the top of the WNBA Championship odds table. At +300, the Minnesota Lynx have opened as slight favorites ahead of the Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty, both of whom open at +330. Expansion teams Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo both open the season with long odds at +25000.

Past WNBA Champions

The best way of predicting the future is to look back at the past. Here are some interesting trends to consider before making a wager:

• Western Conference teams have won 7 of the last 10 and 11 of the last 15 WNBA championships
• Only seven Eastern Conference teams have won the WNBA Championship since 1997
• Only once has a team with a sub-.500 record made the WNBA Finals, the 2014 Chicago Sky

Las Vegas defeated Phoenix 4-0 in last year’s final, with A’ja Wilson being named Finals MVP in the league’s first best-of-seven championship series.

Despite the Aces having won three of the last four WNBA Championships, a new champion had been crowned in four of the last seven seasons: Washington (2019), Chicago (2021), Las Vegas (2023), and New York (2024).

WNBA Teams That Have Never Won a Championship

The Liberty are finally off this list! After New York’s first championship win in 2024, there are now just two teams with fans who are still waiting to celebrate a WNBA championship: the Connecticut Sun, Atlanta Dream, and Golden State Valkyries.

Given that they were an expansion team in 2025, no one can fault the Valkyries for immediately making this list. They’ll likely be joined at the end of the year by 2026 expansion teams Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo.
