In the French Open betting trends, Swiatek was established as the -110 favorite to win in the tournament’s opening betting lines. The current French Open odds show that bettors will get -334 odds if they opt for a futures play on Swiatek. Pegula is offering a betting line of +1200 to finish up as tournament champion.
Swiatek Keeps On Rolling
Chinese teen sensation Qinwen Zheng provided a test for Swiatek and ultimately, she passed with flying colors. The 2020 French Open champion was required to rally for a victory to extend her unbeaten run to 32 matches.
During Swiatek’s 6-7(5-7), 6-0, 6-2 victory, Zheng actually held a 61-60% edge in first service winning percentage. However, Swiatek dominated the second service winning percentage 66-34. The Polish player also held a 7-2 edge in service breaks.
At Roland Garros, Swiatek has posted three bagels – 6-0 set victories. Swiatek has won five straight tournament titles, including three WTA 1,000 titles at Indian Wells, Miami, and Rome.
The IGA streak continues 💪
🇵🇱 @iga_swiatek's 32 straight wins now equal 🇧🇪 @Justine_Henin as the joint third-longest win streak since 2000 🗒 pic.twitter.com/l5smX5YpUz

With a win over Pegula, Swiatek, 21. would hold the third-longest unbeaten run in women’s tennis during the 21st century. Justine Henin also won 32 matches in succession in 2007-08. The 34-match win streak of Serena Williams in 2013 and the 35-match run by Venus Williams in 2000 stand in her way.
Swiatek is still left with plenty of work to do in order to get the all-time WTA mark. Martina Navratilova won 74 matches in a row in 1984.
Pegula Enjoying Best-Ever Grand Slam Showing
A two-time Australian Open quarterfinalist, Pegula is dispelling the notion that she was incapable of playing her best tennis on a clay surface. Her record was 11-12 on clay coming into this season, including a 2-3 French Open mark. In 2022, Pegula is 11-3 playing on a clay court.
Through four rounds at Roland Garros, the American has only dropped two sets. One of them came during her Round of 16 victory over Romania’s Irina-Camelia Begu, which Pegula won 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Pegula Powers Through
Jessica Pegula puts herself in excellent position to make her top 10 debut, rallying past Irina-Camelia Begu, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 in Paris.
With the win, Pegula will reach the top 10 if Kasatkina doesn't reach the final. (And, even then, she's still got a shot!) pic.twitter.com/n7f81ECbr6

Her performance in France is already making it likely that world #11 Pegula will crack the WTA top 10 tennis rankings for the first time in her career. Prior to 2020, she’d never ranked in the top 50.
She’d previously been 0-2 against Begu but never trailed again in the match following the opening set. Pegula won 75% of first service points and captured four of six break points.
Swiatek vs Pegula Prediction
Something happened to Swiatek against Zheng that she’d dealt with just once in her previous 19 matches – she dropped a set. That’s only occurred five times during her 32-match run of success.

Pegula does hold the knowledge that she has beaten Swiatek in the past. It was three years ago, though. In 2019 in the Round of 64 at Washington, DC, Pegula defeated Swiatek 5-7, 6-4, 6-1. However, their only other meeting occurred more recently. In the semifinals at Miami earlier this year, Swiatek downed Pegula in straight sets 6-2, 7-5. The victory was #16 of the Polish player’s current unbeaten streak.

This is Swiatek’s third straight quarterfinal appearance at Roland Garros but it’s a first for Pegula. Swiatek’s combination of power and agility on a clay court has been the undoing of many a player and it will also bring to a halt Pegula’s impressive French Open run.
Jessica Pegula was already twice an Australian Open quarterfinalist. She's a French Open quarterfinalist now too. Just beat Irina-Camilia Begu 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Next up: most likely No. 1 Iga Swiatek and if Pegula wins that she'll be guaranteed to be the No. 1 American for 1st time pic.twitter.com/18i49NMlBa

Pegula is a solid counter puncher and if Swiatek again struggles with her first serve, don’t be surprised if the American forces her to a third set.
Pick: Swiatek -800; Swiatek 2-1 (+350)
