Tuesday’s stalemate with Sassuolo was a rather poor attacking display though, despite enjoying 62% of the ball. Stefano Pioli’s men registered just two shots on target of their 11 total attempts. Keeper Mike Maignan came up with a massive save on a penalty to help the Rossoneri steer clear of an early defeat. Also, Milan is now unbeaten in 20 Serie A matches, dating back to the last term. Joaquin Correa and Nicolo Barella put the Nerrazzuri two goals to the good by the first half and then Lautaro Martinez added another in the 76th minute to seal the three points. Cremonese netted in injury time, but it was too little too late. Inter is the “away” club on Saturday, but they’ve collected six league wins in a row at the San Siro, which is a promising sign ahead of the derby.
