While some of the trade deadline’s biggest moves did not involve Super Bowl contenders (looking at you, Dallas), several of the most likely teams to lift the Lombardi made key moves on Tuesday ahead of the 4 PM ET deadline.
I’ve laid out the top 10 teams in current Super Bowl odds, reacted to three trades that could define contenders in January, and provided my two best bets for Super Bowl 60 below.

Biggest Moves Made by Contenders
Colts Get Lost in the Sauce
In terms of assets given up, this was the trade of the day. The Indianapolis Colts (+1200) acquired two-time All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner from the New York Jets in exchange for two first-round picks and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. The Jets extended Gardner in the offseason on a deal worth north of $120 million.
Gardner was most recently an All-Pro in 2023, but he will need to be in that peak form to help an up-and-down Colts defense. While the Colts offense has taken the league by storm, leading the NFL in points scored, the defense is more average.
They are a healthy seventh in points allowed per game, but that number benefits from already playing the Titans twice, the Raiders, and the Dolphins. The four teams with a modicum of contention hopes (Denver, Rams, Chargers, Pittsburgh) each scored at least 24 points.
Seattle Adds a Deep Threat
The Seattle Seahawks (+1400) acquired Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints in exchange for a fourth-round pick and a fifth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Shaheed has caught 44 passes for 499 yards and two touchdowns in nine games this season.
Seattle arguably has the best receiver in football this season in a scorching-hot Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but the depth behind him has been spotty. Cooper Kupp has a spotty bill of health, and rookie Tory Horton is more of a touchdown machine than a go-to target. In steps Shaheed into the void vacated by Kupp.
Shaheed profiles as the No. 2 receiver in the Seattle offense, an offense that prioritizes the run and still involves the tight ends. Notably, Shaheed reunites with offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, for whom he played last season.
Eagles Increase Defensive Depth
In the run-up to the trade deadline, the Eagles acquired edge rusher Jaelan Phillips for a third-round pick, cornerback Jaire Alexander (and a seventh-round pick) for a sixth-round pick, and cornerback Michael Carter II (and a seventh-round pick) for a sixth-round pick (and John Metchie).
Alexander and Carter are veteran options to bolster a banged-up secondary. While both players come with their own injury concerns, they are veterans in a room led by a pair of 2024 draft picks in Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.
Phillips is more of a needle mover in terms of his on-field prowess. He had 22 sacks in his first 2.5 seasons before a slew of injuries curbed his production in the second half of 2023 and 2024. He has been healthy this year, playing nine games for a miserable Miami defense. He has 3.0 sacks and 25 total tackles. As a high-upside swing, he is exactly the kind of player who will benefit from being on the Eagles’ front.
Super Bowl Bets to Make After Deadline
Philadelphia Eagles +900 (DraftKings)
You can get the reigning champs at +900, exceptional value given their division standing and pedigree. The Eagles are the only team in the NFC with even a two-game division lead. They also have a workable schedule with games against the Cowboys, Raiders, and Commanders (twice) giving them at least a 10-win floor.
Seattle Seahawks +1400 (BetMGM)
The Seahawks are in the thick of a division race with the Rams (also 6-2) and 49ers (6-3), but they are the best mix of health and value. A Seahawks bet would be more lucrative than a Rams bet (+900), and the 49ers are far too injured to be a serious threat.
At 14-to-1, back the Seahawks’ elite defense and sturdy offense. It could be difficult to envision Sam Darnold lifting the Lombardi, but the Seahawks’ defense is certainly a unit worth betting on. At the very least, the Seahawks could be a hedge team in later rounds of the playoffs.
