With a new NFL league year in full force, quarterback needy teams are playing musical chairs to land their next signal caller. Kirk Cousins has been released following two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, but he appears willing to continue his career. With plenty of teams needing a stop-gap option or bridge to a potential rookie quarterback, there should be a solid market for the four-time Pro Bowler.

The graph below shows the current odds for where Cousins will land at prediction site Kalshi as he embarks on his 15th NFL season.

Any team that signs Kirk Cousins will be a competitive unit and see their NFL win totals rise, given his solid career. He’s also further removed from an Achilles tear that signaled the end of his Vikings tenure. In parts of two seasons with the Falcons, he went 12-10 in 22 starts, throwing for 28 touchdowns against 21 interceptions.

If he were installed as a starter from game one and was able to suit up for all 17 contests, he’d improve a team’s NFL odds to make the playoffs, but not exactly lift them into the upper echelon in the Super Bowl odds (1-3 career playoff record).

Currently on Kalshi, the new favorite to land Cousins are the Tennessee Titans with a whopping 98% chance. That’s followed by the Las Vegas Raiders (74%), Pittsburgh Steelers (24%), Arizona Cardinals (23%), and a host of others much more unlikely.

Titans Most Likely Team To Sign Kirk Cousins

I’ll admit, the Titans being the front runners is a bit of a head scratcher to me. There’s no obvious connection with the head coach in Robert Saleh, or the offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, neither of whom have worked with Cousins in his career. They also have an entrenched starter in Cam Ward, the #1 overall draft pick in 2025. He threw for 3,169 yards, tossed 15 TD’s and seven picks last year, and is unquestionably the starter.

Tennessee also inked a two-year deal with Mitch Trubisky, which makes sense, given that he’s been a backup in Buffalo, where OC Daboll was at the helm. They also have Will Levis on the roster, but it’d be a mild surprise if he was still on the team at the start of the season. There’s not really any room for Cousins, given that he won’t start, plus they’ve already given backup QB money to Trubisky.

It’s a weird fit for me, so I’m not running to betting books to plunk down cash on the Titans being the next destination. Does HC Robert Saleh really not like Cam Ward that much? I can’t believe they’d turf or bench him for a QB that will be 38 years old by the start of the campaign.

Las Vegas Raiders Best Fit For Kirk Cousins

The most logical landing spot for Kirk Cousins is the second selection on the board in the Las Vegas Raiders. Geno Smith and Kenny Pickett have moved to different teams, leaving Aidan O’Connell as the only holdover. They have the first pick in the draft, which is expected to be quarterback Fernando Mendoza. The Raiders should pair him with Cousins as a veteran hand who could start a few games, should Mendoza not be ready early.

There would be a familiarity between Cousins and the coaching staff. New head coach Klink Kubiak was Cousins’ QB coach and later offensive coordinator from 2019-21 in Minny, plus Raiders new OC Andrew Janocko served as Cousins’ quarterback coach in 2021, and was on the staff in different roles for three additional years Cousins was on the squad.

While it would seem all but a given that Cousins wouldn’t be in the mix for the NFL MVP odds, elder statesmen Matthew Stafford just won the MVP at age 37, so it’s not without precedent an aging signal caller can get it done. However, Stafford was in a far better situation with the Rams than what Cousins would be parachuted in with Las Vegas. There’s a need from both sides, making LV the most logical landing spot.
