- Aston Villa are our Club Brugge vs Aston Villa pick at +150
- Over 2.5 goals (-152) is our top Champions League prediction
- BTTS has a 60% chance on Polymarket, while Villa have a 38% chance on Kalshi
Aston Villa open their 2026/27 UEFA Champions League campaign against Club Brugge on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 12:45 PM ET at Jan Breydel Stadium. Villa are looking to bounce back from a difficult start to their Premier League campaign, while Brugge have won four of their first five competitive matches.
Club Brugge are making their 13th appearance in the Champions League league phase, a club record. They have also reached the knockout stage in each of their last three UCL appearances. Their home record in Europe is another reason to take the hosts seriously, with Brugge losing just three of their last 22 UEFA matches at Jan Breydel Stadium (13-6-3).
Villa’s European record under Unai Emery tells a different story. Emery’s team won the Europa League last season, and Villa have lost just three of their last 21 Champions League group- or league-phase matches under the manager. However, the squad has undergone a significant offseason rebuild, and the early results have been poor. Villa are winless and goalless through three Premier League matches, with just one shot on target, making their form heading into this European opener a major question mark.

Club Brugge vs Aston Villa Odds
Odds as of September 7, 2026, at 5:44 PM ET from BetMGM.
The odds point to a closely contested match, with Aston Villa (+150) narrowly favored over Club Brugge (+165) and the draw (+250). After removing the sportsbook’s margin, those prices imply win probabilities of approximately 37.6% for Villa, 35.5% for Brugge and 26.9% for the draw.
Club Brugge vs Aston Villa: Team Form, News & Matchup
Brugge have made the better domestic start, collecting 12 points from their first five league matches and winning four of their last five. Nicolò Tresoldi leads the attack with four goals, with each of his last eight goals coming after the 30-minute mark.
Brugge have also shown defensive vulnerabilities in Europe. Since the start of the 2024/25 Champions League, only Barcelona have conceded more goals in the competition than Brugge’s 43. Villa scored three goals in each of their last two meetings with Brugge, while all 15 of the hosts’ last Champions League matches have gone Over 2.5 goals.
Villa’s domestic form has been much less encouraging. They lost 4-0 to Brighton, 1-0 to Arsenal and drew 0-0 with Hull City, leaving them winless and goalless through three Premier League matches. That is a stark contrast to their recent European record under Emery.
Villa have won 16 of their last 21 Champions League group- or league-phase matches under Emery, drawing two and losing three. They have also kept nine clean sheets in their last 16 European games. Nicolas Jackson could add another attacking option after recording three goals and two assists in 10 Champions League appearances for Bayern last season.
Villa will be without Amadou Onana because of a knee injury, while Brian Madjo and Johan Manzambi are also unavailable. Leon Goretzka is expected to be fit and could start in midfield. For Brugge, defender Joel Ordóñez is also expected to miss out.
Club Brugge vs Aston Villa Head-to-Head History
All three previous meetings came in the 2024/25 Champions League. Club Brugge won 1-0 in Belgium during the league phase, but Villa responded with 3-1 and 3-0 wins in the round of 16 to take the tie 6-1 on aggregate. Villa lead the series 2-1, with a 6-2 advantage in total goals.
Club Brugge’s record against English opposition is less encouraging. The 1-0 win over Villa was their only victory in their last 19 matches against English teams, with three draws and 15 losses.
Villa have also had the better of the recent head-to-head, winning the last two meetings by a combined 6-1. That gives the visitors a clear historical edge, although Brugge’s strong home record in Europe makes the moneyline less straightforward.
Club Brugge vs Aston Villa Predictions & Best Bets
Kalshi gives Aston Villa a 38% chance to win, equivalent to roughly +163 in American odds. That is better than the +150 sportsbook price, making Villa our preferred moneyline bet. Villa have won the last two meetings with Brugge, while Emery’s European record gives the visitors another edge. Brugge’s strong home form, however, keeps the draw in play.
Our preferred total is Over 2.5 goals at a 55% chance on Polymarket, equivalent to roughly -122. That is a better price than the -152 available at sportsbooks. Brugge have gone Over 2.5 goals in each of their last 15 Champions League matches, while Villa’s last two wins over Brugge both finished 3-1 and 3-0. Five of Villa’s last seven Champions League matches also produced at least four goals.
Both teams to score has a 60% chance on Polymarket and is our third selection. Villa have scored in five of their last seven Champions League matches, but Brugge have seen both teams score in only one of their last five competitive games. That makes BTTS a smaller play than the moneyline or total.
