Odds as of November 6 at FanDuel. Goals include overtime.

1. NHL Anytime Goalscorer Picks: Adrian Kempe vs Penguins

  • Pick: Adrian Kempe anytime goalscorer (+145 at FanDuel)

Kempe is my plus-money scorer in the Kings vs Penguins matchup. He has six goals on 45 shots through 13 games, roughly 3.5 shots per night, so he gets plenty of cracks at the net.

Kempe returned from illness with three goals and an assist against San Jose on Nov. 4.

Pittsburgh is allowing 3.56 goals and 27.4 shots per game. At +145, a 40.8% implied chance, I’ll take Kempe to light the lamp again.

2. Leon Draisaitl Anytime Goalscorer Pick vs Canucks

  • Pick: Leon Draisaitl anytime goalscorer (-140 at FanDuel)

Draisaitl has 14 goals in 17 games and has put 63 shots on goal, nearly 3.7 per game. Seven of those goals have come on the power play.

That’s a problem for Vancouver. The Canucks’ penalty kill is operating at 63.3%, while Edmonton’s power play is converting at 33.9%.

Vancouver is also giving up 4.61 goals and 31.2 shots per game. The -140 price carries a 58.3% implied chance, and I’m happy to pay it for Draisaitl in this spot.

3. NHL Shots Props: Adrian Kempe Over 2.5 Shots on Goal

  • Pick: Adrian Kempe Over 2.5 shots on goal (-165 at FanDuel)

I’m going back to Kempe for my first shots play. He needs three shots on goal, and he’s averaging 3.46 per game with 45 in 13 appearances.

He’s logging 20:29 of ice time per night, which gives him plenty of shifts to get pucks through. Pittsburgh allows 27.4 shots per game, so his usual volume should carry over.

That season-long shot rate is why I’m comfortable laying -165, with his shot production above the three-shot target.

4. NHL Player Prop Picks: Alex Laferriere Over 2.5 Shots on Goal

  • Pick: Alex Laferriere Over 2.5 shots on goal (-128 at FanDuel)

Laferriere also needs three shots, and he’s right in range with 37 shots through 14 games. That works out to 2.64 per appearance.

His 19:30 of average ice time gives him a big window to get attempts on net. He also has two goals and eight assists, so he’s heavily involved in the Kings’ offense.

Pittsburgh’s 27.4 shots allowed per game sets up a fair matchup. At -128, this is the cheapest of my three shots props.

5. Evgeni Malkin Shots on Goal Prop at Kings

  • Pick: Evgeni Malkin Over 1.5 shots on goal (-165 at FanDuel)

Wrapping up my NHL player prop picks, I’m taking Malkin to land two shots on goal. He has 28 shots in 14 games, exactly two per contest, along with six goals.

Two of those goals came on the power play, and Los Angeles has a 62.2% penalty kill. The Kings are also allowing 28.6 shots per game.

Malkin averages 16:59 of ice time, more than enough to reach a modest target. At -165, I like him to get there.
