The Vancouver Canucks (3-14-1) have three wins through 18 games, and their next stop is Rogers Place against an Edmonton Oilers team (11-3-3) scoring 4.12 goals per game.
Puck drop for this Pacific Division matchup is set for 10pm ET on Saturday, Nov. 7, in Edmonton.
Here’s my Canucks vs Oilers prediction, plus the latest odds and my best bets for Saturday night.
Canucks vs Oilers Prediction
- Pick: Over 6.5 goals (-150 at FanDuel)
My Canucks vs Oilers prediction is the Over, even at -150. That price works out to a 60% implied chance, and the scoring numbers on both sides support it.
Edmonton averages 4.12 goals per game, and Vancouver gives up 4.61. The Canucks also allow 31.2 shots per night while generating only 21.8 of their own.
Special teams add to it. The Oilers’ power play is converting at 33.9%, while Vancouver’s penalty kill sits at 63.3%. Leon Draisaitl already has seven power-play goals this season.
Sportradar’s totals trends point the same way. The Over has cashed in five of the Oilers’ last six home games and four of their last five home games as a favourite. It has also hit in each of Edmonton’s last three games against Vancouver.
Canucks games have gone Over in 11 of their last 13 against teams with a winning record, per Sportradar. Vancouver doesn’t need to score much to help push this past 6.5, and it averages 2.94 goals per game.
Canucks vs Oilers Odds
The Canucks vs Oilers odds at FanDuel have Edmonton as a -310 moneyline favourite, which comes to about a 75.6% implied chance. Vancouver is +245, roughly a 29% implied shot, so a $10 bet on the upset would pay $24.50 in profit.
The puck line is closer to even. Edmonton is -128 to win by two or more (56.1% implied), while Vancouver is +104 at +1.5. The total is 6.5 goals, with the Over at -150 and the Under at +122, good for about a 45% implied chance.

Canucks vs Oilers Best Bets
I’ve got two Canucks vs Oilers best bets for Saturday. The total is my top play, and the Oilers moneyline is a lean.
- Best Bet: Over 6.5 goals (-150 at FanDuel)
Edmonton’s offence gets a Vancouver defence allowing 4.61 goals per game, and the Over has a strong Sportradar track record at Rogers Place. That’s enough for me to pay the juice.
- Lean: Oilers moneyline (-310 at FanDuel)
Laying -310 won’t fit every bankroll, so I’m keeping this as a lean. Still, the gap between these clubs is wide. Edmonton is 11-3-3, while Vancouver is 3-14-1.
Sportradar has the Oilers winning three of the last four meetings. Vancouver has won just once in its last 16 games as an underdog.
Connor McDavid has 44 points (10 goals, 34 assists) in 17 games, and Draisaitl has 31 points, with 14 goals and 17 assists. The Canucks haven’t shown they can slow that duo down.
Canucks vs Oilers Team Stats
The Canucks vs Oilers team stats from NHL.com show a big gap at both ends of the ice.
Edmonton actually gets outshot slightly on average (25.6 for, 26.5 against), but it turns those looks into goals. The Oilers score on roughly 16% of their shots.
Vancouver has the opposite problem. The Canucks give up nearly 10 more shots per game than they take, and their penalty kill is stopping fewer than two of every three chances against.
Canucks vs Oilers Public Betting Splits
Sportradar’s Canucks vs Oilers moneyline splits are about as one-sided as they get. The Oilers have 98.59% of the handle on 96% of the tickets.
That leaves Vancouver with 1.41% of the money and 4% of the bets. The public agrees with my Oilers lean, but betting volume doesn’t decide hockey games. Puck line and total splits weren’t available. Follow more games on our NHL Public Betting Trends page.
Canucks vs Oilers Lineup Notes
Neither team has confirmed its starting goalie for the Canucks vs Oilers matchup.
NHL.com’s Nov. 5 projected lineup for Edmonton listed Tristan Jarry (illness), Zach Hyman (IR, but practising) and Devon Levi (nearing a return).
NHL.com’s Nov. 5 daily lineup projections listed Vancouver’s Thatcher Demko (hip), Filip Chytil (shoulder) and Tom Willander (lower body).
The Canucks vs Oilers starting-goalie matchup remains pending as of Friday.
