A “win” bet is simple. Betting on a horse to “place” means you’ll want them to come in the top two. A bet on a horse to “show” means they need to come in the top three for you to win. You’ll win less with place and show bets, but your chances increase.
You can also group two, three, or four horses together to finish in a specific order in the top-two (exacta), top-three (trifecta), or top-four (superfecta).
