Tennesse quarterback Hendon Hooker is crashing the 2022 Heisman race. The Vols’ senior pivot became a top-five Heisman Trophy favorite after showing out against Florida in college football Week 4.
Ohio State’s CJ Stroud, the current Heisman favorite, also bolstered his odds with a great performance in Week 4. While Stroud and Hooker are trending up, several of CFB’s top players are trending down.
Let’s take a look at the updated Heisman odds and break down the movement.

Hendon Hooker Heisman Odds
Tennesse quarterback Hendon Hooker entered Saturday’s game against Florida with +5000 odds to win the Heisman at FanDuel. By the time the game concluded, Hooker was sitting at +2000 to win the prestigious trophy.
Hooker threw for 349 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 112 yards and a score to lead the Volunteers to a 38-33 victory over No. 20 Florida. The fourth-year starter was playing through an upper-body injury, plus missing his top receiver target.

Hooker’s performance is exactly the type of effort that Heisman voters take note of. In a key rivalry game without his favorite target, Hooker put the team on his back and helped Tennessee snap a six-game losing streak to the Gators.
Hooker still sits far back of the consensus favorite CJ Stroud in the odds, but there will be no shortage of “Heisman moment” opportunities for Hooker with Alabama and Georgia looming.
The Vols are off to a 4-0 start, and Hooker has thrown for 1,193 yards and eight TDs with no interceptions.
CJ Stroud Heisman Odds
Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud also strengthened his Heisman case in Week 4. Stroud, who was favored to win the award entering Saturday, became an even heavier favorite following his game vs Wisconsin.
Stroud threw five touchdown passes against the Badgers, causing his Heisman odds to shorten from +200 to +125 at FanDuel. The second-year starter did throw his first interception of the season, but it won’t overshadow his overall body of work.
It’s hard to argue with the oddsmakers through the first four weeks of the season. Stroud has looked like the best QB in the nation, and the 2023 NFL Draft first pick odds are in agreement with the Heisman odds.
Stroud has been able to connect with a variety of different receivers with top target Jaxon Smith-Njigba battling injury. The junior QB completed his first eight passes vs Wisconsin and ranks second in the country with a 95.4 QBR.
Other Notable Movement in Heisman Odds
Week 4 was full of crazy results, which meant there was Heisman odds movement across the board. One of the notable fallers was USC’s Caleb Williams, who faded from +300 to +600 after underwhelming in a 17-14 victory over Oregon State.
While Williams didn’t have the game many were expecting, several other quarterbacks exceeded expectations and bolstered their odds. Kanas’ Jalon Daniels went from +6000 to +3000, while Kansas State’s Adrian Martinez went from +12000 to +4000.

Martinez winning the Heisman was a running gag while he played for Nebraska, but his drastic odds shift is reflective of how truly impressive his Week 4 performance was. The senior rushed for 148 yards and four TDs to lead the Wildcats to an upset win over the Sooners.
While quarterbacks are getting most of the attention, there’s one running back who continues to steadily climb in the Heisman odds. Michigan’s Blake Corum saw notable odds improvement for the second straight week, going from +6000 to +4000, after racking up 243 rushing yards vs Maryland.
