The Toronto Blue Jays hit the road for the first time in the young season when they play the New York Yankees at 7:05 p.m. ET Monday at Yankee Stadium to open a four-game series.

The Blue Jays (2-1/0-0 road) took two out of three games from the Texas Rangers at home over the weekend to start the season. The Yankees (2-1/2-1 home) opened 2022 by winning two of three against the Boston Red Sox at home.

Manoah is coming off a strong spring training showing and was masterful against the Yankees last season as a rookie.

In 14 Grapefruit League innings, Manoah allowed just two runs (one earned) and nine hits with 12 strikeouts and three walks.

Manoah is 1-0 with a 2.31 ERA in two starts against the Yankees, both in New York. He pitched six shutout innings last May 27 in his major league debut. Aaron Judge is 0 for 6 against the 2019 first-round draft pick and DJ LeMahieu is hitless in five at-bats.

As a rookie, Manoah went 4-2 with a 4.08 ERA in 11 road starts and 5-2 with a 3.48 ERA in 15 outings at night.

He has +2500 AL Cy Young odds despite having less a full year of MLB service time.

Taillon worked just 5.2 innings this spring in major league exhibition games, giving up three runs on five hits while striking out five and walking one. He showed he was healthy after undergoing ankle surgery in the offseason.

Taillon is 1-2 with a 5.21 ERA in four career starts against the Blue Jays and has had trouble with some of their big hitters as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette are both 3 for 7. Guerrero has a double and two home runs and Bichette has doubled.

George Springer, though, is hitless in six at-bats against Taillon.

In his first season with the Yankees in 2021, Taillon pitched well at Yankee Stadium with a 5-2 record and 3.26 ERA in 15 starts. He was 5-3 with a 4.72 ERA at night in 19 starts.

Blue Jays vs Yankees Betting Outlook

Both teams lost for the first time this season Sunday. The Blue Jays had a particular galling defeat as they led 6-1 in the fourth inning but wound up falling to the Rangers 12-6.

Guerrero provided a highlight, though, when he blasted a 467-foot home run in the third inning. It was the longest of Guerrero’s career.

Springer led off a game with a homer for the 44th time in his career.

The Yankees dropped a 4-3 decision to the Red Sox in the Bronx.

Anthony Rizzo’s two-run single in the fourth inning drew the Yankees into a 3-3 tie. However, that it was it for New York as the Red Sox bullpen pitched 5.2 scoreless innings.

Jake Diekman preserved the one-run lead in the ninth inning by striking out Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Joey Gallo.

Stanton had three hits.
