Milwaukee vs Atlanta Probable Pitchers

Rea has had an up-and-down campaign in 2023, going 5-4 with a 4.53 ERA in 17 total starts. He’s struck out 75 in 91.1 innings and walked 27. He has been better since the All-Star break in two outings though, compiling an ERA of 3.27.

Last time on the mound, Rea tossed six innings against the rival Reds, allowing just two runs on five hits, ultimately settling for the no-decision. Prior to that was also a respectable start, giving up a mere two runs. However, the righty tends to struggle in day games, producing a 5.29 ERA this season.

With the Braves staff very shorthanded at the moment due to numerous injuries, it could be an opener. Brian Snitker may also go with veteran Charlie Morton, who would technically be on four days’ rest after pitching on Tuesday in Boston where he lasted just 3.2 innings.

Morton is 10-8 with a 3.57 ERA in 20 appearances, racking up 120 K’s while issuing 50 free passes in 113.1 innings. Another option as an opener is Michael Tonkin, who hasn’t taken the mound since Tuesday either when he relieved Morton.

Can Milwaukee Separate Themselves in NL Central?

There’s no question the Brewers have looked rather inconsistent this season and dropping two in a row to the Braves isn’t exactly ideal, now falling to 4-6 in their last 10 games. However, Milwaukee is still first in the NL Central and has a clear opportunity over these next couple of weeks to take off.

After leaving Atlanta, Milwaukee heads to DC to face the lowly Nationals before heading home to host the Pirates and Rockies. If there was any time for the Brew Crew to start stringing together some ball games, it would be now against a few poor opponents.

Braves Are Scary

With one of the best MLB lineups around, the Braves are a legitimate force to be reckoned with. No one has a better record in the Majors and even though Snitker’s group is without several key arms including Max Fried and AJ Minter, others continue to step up. No wonder Atlanta has the top World Series odds.

MVP frontrunner Ronald Acuna Jr is leading the way with a .329 average at the dish to go along with 24 home runs and 50 stolen bases. He’s one of four different guys with 20+ bombs, with Matt Olson slugging 33 on his own. It’s hard to imagine anyone beating this team in the postseason.

Brewers vs Braves Picks

I don’t care who is on the hill for the Braves. Betting against Atlanta at home is a very bad idea, especially after their offense just erupted across the last two games. Take the moneyline.

Pick: Braves moneyline (-210)
