  • The Cubs kick off a four game series against the Brewers on Monday, July 3rd
  • Struggling of late, the Cubs head into this divisional clash having lost ?? of their last ??
  • Below, find the Cubs vs Brewers odds, picks, as well as the starting pitchers

Halfway through the season and the National League Central crown is very much up for grabs with no team separating themselves from the pack. Currently, the Brewers (45-39, 22-18 home) are the favorites in the MLB division odds at -110, with their opponents on Monday, July 3rd, the Cubs, (38-44, 17-22 away) the third-favorite at +425.

Although they are six games back of the Brewers, the Cubs can make up significant ground with a sweep of this four game set, not an easy task by any standards. Opening pitch for their first encounter is scheduled for 2:10 pm ET with Bally Sports Network and the Marquee Sports Network providing television coverage.

Check out the latest Cubs vs Brewers odds and betting lines below, while we also get you set for the starting pitching matchup before offering up our predictions.

Cubs vs Brewers Odds

Team Moneyline Runline Total
Chicago Cubs -115 -1.5 (+150) O 9 (+100)
Milwaukee Brewers -105 +1.5 (-170) U 9 (-120)

These two teams opened the season against one another, where the Brewers took two of three. Even though they are tops in the division, and have won six of their last nine, it’s the Cubs who are -115 moneyline chalk for this series opener.

Forecasts are calling for a pretty day with mostly sunny skies and game time temperatures hovering right around 80 degrees. There is little chance of rain and mild winds to be expected.

Chicago Cubs vs Milwaukee Probable Pitchers

Southpaw Drew Smyly is on the bunk for the Cubbies in this one after a disastrous start in his last outing. The lefty got rocked for seven runs and two homers against the Phillies last week. It was easily his worst performance of the season, bringing his ERA up over 50 points.

Luckily for Smyly, this game will be played away from the unfriendly confines of Wrigley Field. Yes, we said unfriendly, at least that’s the case for the 34-year old. He is 4-3 with a 2.74 ERA on the road this year, versus a 3-2 mark with a 5.36 ERA at home.

Smyly vs Teheran Stats

Drew Smyly
VS
Julio Teheran
7-5 Record 2-3
3.96 ERA 2.85
1.29 WHIP 0.93
.251 OBA .208
2.6 SO/W Ratio 3.1

Back in the big leagues for the first time in more than two years, Julio Teheran is writing a comeback story that we should all be fond of right now. Through seven starts this season, he’s got a WHIP of 0.93 and an ERA of 2.85. This, after sitting out the entire 2022 season.

In his first six outings, the 32-year old never gave up more than two runs, but all good things must come to an end at some point, and he did get lit up by the Mets for seven runs last time out.

Still, the performance was the deviation from the norm for the Colombian native so far this year. After not seeing any MLB lineups for two full seasons, his return to the big leagues has been very impressive.

Cubs on a Slide

After another loss on Sunday, the Cubs have now dropped five of their last six straight up in the MLB odds, with each of those matchups being played at home. Perhaps getting on the road will do them some good, as they won’t be back home at Wrigley until after the all-star break.

On the road, they have actually won six of their last eight games. To ring up some more victories, Chicago will need their offense to wake up. They’ve scored just a single run or less in three of their last six games.

Cubs vs Brewers Picks

It’s interesting that the Cubs have been given chalk status in this contest, but that may be because the oddsmakers just don’t know what to make of Teheran quite yet.

With the starters on each side coming off their worst appearances of the season, I’d lay my money on a bounce back, especially with Teheran considering he could become the comeback story of the year.

Both these sides have hit the under more often than the over this season and given a struggling Cubs offense, with two pitchers motivated to erase memories of their last starts, our prediction is to pick the under.

Pick: Under 9 Runs (-120)
