Two of baseball’s most historic franchises meet for the first time in four years when the Yankees (34-24, 15-11 away) make their way out to Hollywood to take on the Dodgers (34-23, 19-8 home) with the series kicking off on Friday, June 2nd.

First pitch is scheduled for 10:10 pm ET from Dodger Stadium and can be seen on Spectrum SportsNet LA as well as the YES Network. Below, we dish out all the Yankees vs Dodgers odds as well as our pick for this much anticipated matchup between two of baseball’s iconic teams.

Yankees vs Dodgers Odds

Team Moneyline Runline Total
New York Yankees +110 +1.5 (-180) O 8.5 (-105)
Los Angeles Dodgers -130 -1.5 (+155) U 8.5 (-115)

Owners of the best home record in the National League at 19-8, the Dodgers open as -130 moneyline favorites to take the series opener from the Bronx Bombers. During the month of May, LA sported a 10-2 mark at Dodger Stadium, so the Yanks will have their work cut out for them.

It is expected to be clear skies and sunshine until nightfall comes with game time temperatures hovering around 65 degrees in LA with no chance of rain, but 70% humidity, meaning it will be a sweaty one for most.

New York Yankees vs Los Angeles Angels Probable Pitchers

In two starts since returning from injury, the Yankees couldn’t have asked for much more than they’ve gotten from Luis Severino. He’s allowed just one earned run in each of his outings.

The 29-year old missed the first 48 games of the season with a strained right lat muscle. A similar injury cost him two months last year, and he missed most of the previous three years — 2019 through 2021 — with shoulder and elbow trouble.

If he’s able to stay healthy for the rest of the campaign and display the form that made him a contender in the Cy Young odds in 2017 and 2018, it will likely leave the Yanks as one of the top contenders in the World Series odds come autumn.

Severino vs Kershaw Stats

Luis Severino
VS
Clayton Kershaw
0-0 Record 6-4
1.59 ERA 3.32
0.79 WHIP 1.14
.128 OBA .233
2.5 SO/W Ratio 4.7

Although he’s pitched for the Dodgers his entire career and the Yankees play in the American League, Clayton Kershaw has actually started four games in his lifetime against the Evil Empire, a fair sample size against an Interleague opponent.

Even though he hasn’t gotten a single victory in any of those outings, his overall numbers are a terrific, as he sports a 1.67 ERA and 0.52 WHIP in those games, but just hasn’t received much run support. In Kershaw’s last three appearances against the Yankees, his team has scored just three runs.

The lefty is coming off a couple less than impressive outings, giving up four earned in each of his last two starts, but should be jacked to start things off when these rivals collide on Friday.

Dodgers Must Watch Out for Judge

With all due respect to Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout and Pete Alonso, no MLB lineups have a single hitter that can strike fear into opposing pitcher like Aaron Judge. Too bad for Kershaw, he’s going to be facing the Yanks slugger as he comes off a ridiculous month.

Aaron Judge Month-to-Month Stats

Month Average Home Runs RBI OPS
May .342 12 25 1.356
April .250 5 12 .823

As the weather has gotten hotter, so has the Yankees’ big man. After a torrid month of May, expect Judge’s MVP odds to shorten significantly, although Ohtani still owns chalk status as a dual threat. The last time Judge faced Kershaw he took him deep back in the 2019 season.

Yankees vs Dodgers Prediction

Overall, the Yankees have struggled against southpaw’s in the MLB odds this season, scoring 0.65 less runs per game on offense when tasked with hitting lefties.

Who knows how many more chances the 35-year old Kershaw will get to face the Bronx Bombers in his career. Combining LA’s impeccable road record with Kershaw’s desire to get a positive decision against the Yanks, our prediction is to roll with the Dodgers at home.

Pick: Los Angeles Moneyline (-130)
