He scored 38 points against the Mavericks on Christmas Day at Dallas.

The status of Davis is intriguing. The Lakers are certainly a different team when he’s healthy and playing. He’s missed 24 games through injury this season. However, Davis is averaging 21.8 points and 12.5 rebounds in the last 11 games. He’s also blocking nearly two shots per game.

In their first three games in the backcourt together, Doncic and Irving have ramped up the Dallas offense. The Mavericks are averaging 130.3 points. Signed from the pre-All-Star game buyout market, shooting guard Justin Holiday came through big-time in his Dallas debut on Thursday. He was good for 15 points off the bench. Holiday hit five-of-six from beyond the arc.

Vanderbilt will be drawing the assignment of guarding Doncic, the NBA scoring leader (33.2 ppg) and one of the top contenders in the NBA MVP odds. As much as recent outcomes seem to be making a bet on the Dallas to cover the point spread as the logical conclusion, the over is also a good play here.
