Jazz Batting Outlook

Rudy Gobert’s alley-oop dunk on a pass from Donovan Mitchell with 11 seconds left gave the Jazz a 100-99 lead in Game 4. Dallas’ Spencer Dinwiddie then missed a potential game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer.

The Jazz fell behind 99-95 when Luka Doncic made his second straight basket with 40 seconds remaining. However, Mitchell drew the Jazz within a point with a three-point play and Utah got the ball back when Dwight Powell missed two free throw attempts with 19 seconds to go.

Jordan Clarkson scored 25 points off the bench to lead the Jazz. Utah’s reserves outscored Dallas’ bench 35-13.

Mitchell finished with 23 points, seven assists and six rebounds. However, he made just 3 of 14 shots from the field over the last three quarters after going 4 for 7 in the opening period.

Gobert had 17 points and 15 rebounds, including 10 off the offensive glass. He was just 9 of 18 from the foul line, though, as the Jazz made 26 of 42 attempts for a sickly 61.9%.

Following the game, Gobert got a bit too excited during a television interview and said a profanity on the air. He was fined $25,000 by the NBA.

There has been plenty of buzz on social media during the series about Mitchell being reluctant to pass the ball to Mitchell and that the two are feuding. Both denied those reports following the game.

Utah shot just 28.6% (10 of 35) on threes, including 5 of 24 in the first half.

Bojan Bogdanovic added 12 points but was lauded for his defensive effort.

Trent Forest (foot) is not expected to play in Game 5. Udoka Azubuike (ankle) is out with a longer-term injury.

The Jazz are 17-25-1 against the spread on the road. They are pegged as +1400 longshots in the odds to win the Western Conference, narrowly behind Dallas at +1100.

Utah’s NBA championship odds are sitting at +4000, again just behind Dallas at +3000.

Mavericks Betting Outlook

The good news in Game 4 for the Mavericks is Doncic played well after missing the first three games of the series with a strained left calf. He registered 30 points, 10 rebounds and four assists while playing 33:44.

Doncic was third in scoring (28.4) and fifth in assists (8.6) in the NBA during the regular season.

Jalen Brunson contributed 23 points and is averaging 29.8 in the series. Reggie Bullock, Dorian Finney-Smith and Powell all had 11 points.

The Mavericks did rally from a 16-point deficit in the second quarter. Dallas led 81-78 by the end of the third period but managed just 18 points in the fourth quarter when it shot just 33%.

Dinwiddie’s missed three capped a frustrating day as he scored just five points in 23:50 minutes of reserve action. He started the three games Doncic missed and averaged 19.7 points.

Frank Ntilikina (illness) is questionable for Monday and Tim Hardaway (foot) is out.

The Mavericks have been the winning side ATS in the last three games and are 24-17-1 at home against the number this season.

Jazz vs Mavericks Prediction

The teams split four games during the regular season and every game in this series has been decided by single digits. Look for another close game, which means the lean goes to the Jazz getting the points.

Pick: Jazz +3 (-110)
