Once a regular in the event, Indiana makes its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2016 when it meets Wyoming at 9:10 p.m. ET Tuesday in a First Four game at UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio.

Indiana (20-13) lost to Iowa 80-77 in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals last Saturday in Indianapolis. However, the Hoosiers won two games in the event for the first time since 2003 as they beat Michigan and top-seeded Illinois.

Wyoming (25-8) hasn’t been to the NCAAs since 2015 and as an at-large team since 2002. The Cowboys lost to Boise State 68-61 last Saturday in the Mountain West Conference Tournament semifinals.

The winner advances as the #12 seed in the East Region to play Saint Mary’s in a first-round game on Thursday night in Portland, Ore.

Indiana is a four-point favorite in a game that will be televised by TruTV. As -188 favorites on the moneyline, the Hoosiers have a 65.28% implied win probability.

The odds to win the East Region currently have Indiana at +3000, on par with Virginia Tech and Murray State, despite having to play an extra game. Wyoming is back at +5000, which is still shorter than the #13 through #16 seeds in the region.

Both have astronomical odds to win March Madness; Indiana is sitting at +27500 and Wyoming is +75000.

Indiana Betting Outlook

Indiana has been the winning side against the spread in six of its last seven games and has a season record of 19-14 versus the number.

Sophomore forward Trayce Jackson-Davis is coming off a big performance in the Big Ten tourney as he had 76 points and 35 rebounds in three games. He became just the second Indiana player to have multiple 30-point, 10-rebounds performances in the event.

In the loss to Iowa, Jackson-Davis finished with 31 points and 10 rebounds for his 10th double-double of the season and fourth game with at least 30 points. He is averaging 18.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocked shots a game.

Jackson-Davis was a first-team pick on the All-Big Ten team. He was also among the favorites in the Wooden Award odds at the start of the year, but never gained much traction nationally.

Junior guard Xavier Johnson has a had a fine season after transferring from Pittsburgh with averages with 12.3 points and 5.0 assists.

Johnson had 20 points and nine assists against Iowa, just missing his second double-double of 2021-22. He has scored in double figures in eight straight games.

Junior forward Race Thompson added 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists. He is scoring 11.5 points and pulling down 7.6 rebounds a game.

Poor shooting from distance hurt the Hoosiers as they connected on just 5 of 19 (26.3%) three-point attempts.

Wyoming Betting Outlook

This is a truly exciting time for bettors in Wyoming, with Wyoming online betting now legal and the Cowboys in the dance for the first time since 2015. Unfortunately, Wyoming is 17-13-2 ATS this season, it is just 1-4 ATS in its last five games. The Cowboys’ 24 straight-up wins in the regular season were the program’s most since 1950-51.

The Cowboys are led by the high-scoring duo of sophomore forward Graham Ike and senior guard Hunter Maldonado, who are combining for 38.0 points and 15.4 rebounds a game.

Ike is averaging nearly a double-double at 19.6 points and 9.6 rebounds. He had 18 points and six rebounds in the loss to Boise State.

Maldonado is having one of the finest all-round seasons of any player in the country as he is averaging 18.4 points, 6.3 assists and 5.8 rebounds. He was a first-team all-MWC selection while Ike was on the second team.

In the Cowboys’ previous game, Maldonado finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals, coming up one board shy of his seventh double-double. However, he was just 1 of 7 from three-point range and the Cowboys were 7 for 25 (28.0%) as a team from distance.

Senior guard Drake Jeffries was 5 of 8 on threes while the rest of his teammates were 2 of 17. He finished with 17 points.

In 2021-22, Jeffries is scoring 10.5 points and pulling in 5.3 rebounds a game.

Turnovers also hurt Wyoming against Boise State as the Cowboys had 16.

Indiana vs Wyoming Prediction

The teams are meeting for the first time since 1999-2000 in a game Indiana won 99-80 on a neutral court.

Indiana played some of its best basketball of the season in the Big Ten Tournament. Unfortunately for Look for the Hoosiers to cover against Wyoming, which has lost five of its last nine games.
