Chevan Cordeiro Passing Touchdowns

One of our top college football player props for Saturday’s action is a play on San Jose State senior quarterback Chevan Cordeiro in his final collegiate start against Coastal Carolina in the Hawaii Bowl. We’re locking in Cordeiro over 1.5 passing TDs as he faces a vulnerable CCU secondary,

Cordeiro has thrown multiple touchdown passes in seven of his 12 games this season, and also went off for three passing touchdowns in his bowl game last year vs Eastern Michigan. Coastal Carolina allows seven yards per pass attempt and gave up five TDs through the air in their last game against JMU.

Cordeiro is from Honolulu, and he will have over 100 of his family and friends in attendance for this game. While some bowl games appear meaningless on the surface, there is clear motivation for Cordeiro in this spot as he aims to leave college with his head held high.

The Chanticleers have a ton of opt outs in this game, which has led to oddsmakers setting SJSU as significant -9 spread favorites in the Hawaii Bowl. The Spartans only have two opt outs at the time of writing, and WR Nick Nash (704 yds), who is Cordeiro’s top target, will be available.

  • Pick: Chevan Cordeiro OVER 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (-110)

Freddie Brock Rushing Yards

Another player we are targeting in the Saturday college football player props is Georgia State running back Freddie Brock in his matchup with Utah State. The senior is expected to be the Panthers’ go-to back Saturday with leading RB Marcus Carroll transferring to Missouri.

Brock has been waiting for an opportunity to show out, and he’ll get it Saturday. The talented RB rushed for 1,145 yards during three seasons at Maine and was named to the Colonial Athletic Association’s all-conference team in 2021, when he ran for 720 yards.

This season, Brock carried only six times for 31 yards because Carroll and quarterback Darren Grainger accounted for 88.2% of the team’s rushing attempts. However, Georgia State’s leading RB role is open for 2024, and Brock has told reporters he’s viewing this bowl game as an audition for next year.

This is the ideal matchup for Brock, with Utah State allowing nearly 200 rushing yards per game and 4.8 yards per attempt. They’ve been torched for over 300 yards on the ground in their last two games, and Brock possesses the explosive speed to give them more trouble. In his last season as a starter, he averaged 69 yards per game.

  • Pick: Freddie Brock OVER 61.5 Rushing Yards (-114 at FD)
