Big thanks to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers for guiding us back to the black after a rough Week 1.
So let’s keep the Sunday Night Football momentum going, with a tasty one for us to pick at in Week 3, as the San Francisco 49ers visit the Denver Broncos.
Denver is a hot mess after two weeks, and Russell Wilson has yet to offer the elite QB experience Broncos fans are hoping for (no thanks to new head coach Nate Hackett).
Meanwhile, ‘Frisco is going retro, with Jimmy Garoppolo assuming the starting role as Trey Lance’s season is done after an ankle injury.
You can find out how that might affect the outcome when things kick off at Empower Field at 8:20pm ET on NBC.
For our purposes, let’s look at the NFL player props and a few of our favorite picks.

Prop #1: Javonte Williams Receptions
Williams appears to have earned the every-down back role, and has been one Wilson’s top target in the early going. Through two games, Williams has been targeted 16 times to veteran Melvin Gordon III’s three.
In Week 1, an overly check-downish Wilson completed 11 passes to Williams in a loss to the Seahawks. While Williams had just one catch against the Texans, the 49ers’ D is a different beast.
Through 2 weeks there is one RB inside the top 15 overall in Red Zone targets. That's #Broncos Javonte Williams who is tied for 4th with 5 RZ Targets so far. pic.twitter.com/J6HNSqZlrl

They are among the bottom feeders in blitz rate, yet San Francisco ranks top-5 in generating pressure. That D-line push should get Wilson a little uneasy and looking to his release valve early and often.
Last week, Travis Homer crossed this total, and in Week 1, David Montgomery had three grabs on four targets. Love these plus odds here too.
- Pick: Williams OVER 3.5 receptions (+155); 1 unit to win 1.55 units

Prop #2: Jimmy Garoppolo and Russell Wilson Rush Yards
You know by now that we’re big fans of low rushing totals. Sure, it’s crushed us at times (looking at you, Jared Goff and Tom Brady), but the probability is what keeps us coming back for more.
Jimmy Garoppolo’s first practice back as the 49ers’ QB1. The job for this season has obviously changed for QB coach Brian Griese… pic.twitter.com/p94QU12xuZ

Jimmy Garoppolo is no Trey Lance, but he’s a mobile-enough quarterback, and he doubled this total set in last week’s win over the Seahawks, with five yards on four carries. In fact, in his last seven games, he’s passed this total four times. One pocket collapse or flush out the pocket, and you’re in business.
As for Wilson, this is sticking to the same theme as Williams. The 49ers will get pressure, and Wilson’s signature scrambling ability will come in handy. He’s had to use it in the past against these ‘Frisco defenses: he’s gone for 14+ yards rushing in his last 10 games vs the 49ers.
When did Russell Wilson decide he’d just quit using his legs to extend plays or run? It’s his biggest strength.
— Sean Salisbury (@SeanUnfiltered) September 18, 2022
Through two games, Russ has only carried three total times for five yards. While Wilson critics say this aspect of his game is diminished, nine yards rushing shouldn’t be an issue. Last year, he crossed that total nine times, and the longest sub-9 yard running game stretch he had was two.
- Pick: Garoppolo OVER 2.5 yards rushing (-120); 1 units to win 0.83 units
- Pick: Wilson OVER 8.5 yards rushing (-115); 1 unit to win 0.87units

49ers vs Broncos Touchdown Scorer Odds
Thanks to our friends at DraftKings for touchdown scoring stats.
For the home team, Melvin Gordon III has scored at least one TD in five the Broncos’ last six games against NFC opposition.
For the visitors, Deebo Samuel has scored a major in four of San Francisco’s last five road games. For added value, George Kittle will be making his season debut for the 49ers, and that would be a nice little win if he could make an impact in his return.
- Pick: Gordon III anytime TD scorer (+175); 1 units to win 1.75 units
- SNF Week 2 player prop bet record: 4-1; Overall: 5-4, +0.22 units
