Ravens vs Bengals Recent History

The Bengals beat the Ravens in consecutive weeks last season, both in Cincinnati, winning 27-16 in the regular-season finale and 24-17 in an AFC Wild Card playoff game. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson missed both games because of injury and Burrow passed for 209 yards and one touchdown in the postseason matchup.

Ravens Offense vs Bengals Defense

The Ravens suffered a major loss in their season-opening win. J.K. Dobbins, expected to be their top running back, suffered a torn Achilles and will miss the remainder of the season.

Jackson wound up leading the Ravens in rushing with 38 yards on six carries. Justice Hill had two touchdown runs but totaled just 9 yards total in eight attempts.

Wide receiver Zay Flowers had an impressive NFL debut. The first-round draft pick was targeted a team-high 10 times by Jackson and had nine receptions for 78 yards.

Jackson is 6-1 in seven career starts against the Bengals and the Ravens are 0-4 versus Cincinnati when he hasn’t played since entering the league in 2018. With one more rushing touchdown, Jackson will become the fifth player in NFL history to have 100 TD passes and 25 scoring runs in his first six seasons.

Bengals Offense vs Ravens Defense

Burrow completed just 13 of 31 passes last week on a rainy day in Cleveland while being constantly harassed by the Browns’ pass rush. He was removed from the game with 5:15 remaining after missing the entire preseason with a calf injury.

The performance came one day after Burrow signed a five-year, $275-million contract extension that makes him the highest-paid player in the league. Despite the rough start, Burrow’s NFL MVP odds are still +750.

The Bengals’ outstanding trio of wide receivers also had an unproductive afternoon. Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd combined for 49 receiving yards and Higgins failed to make a catch on eight targets.

The three had 2,837 yards and 21 touchdowns last season when the Bengals won their second straight AFC North title.

Ravens vs Bengals Injury Report

Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey (foot) will not play after also sitting out last week. Center Tyler Lindenbaum (ankle), offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley (knee), and safety Marcus Williams (pectoral) have also been ruled out after leaving the win over the Texans.

No Bengals players were listed as out or doubtful on the final injury report.

Ravens vs Bengals Prediction

Was Burrow’s poor performance in Week 1 an outlier or is there reason for concern? We’ll learn more Sunday but, even with the Ravens banged up, taking the points with Jackson is the way to go.

Ravens vs Bengals Picks: Ravens +3.5 (-115)

Season record: 1-0 (+1.0 unit) ATS.
