NFL Week 17 Parlay Picks

The Eagles are heavy favorites to coast to victory at home to the Cardinals in Week 17. Meanwhile, the Rams are rolling and the Seahawks have won two in a row and return home to where they are 5-2.

Cardinals vs Eagles

  • Pick: Eagles

Something isn’t quite right with the Eagles with losses in 3/4 games and only a narrow 33-25 home win on Christmas Day against the Giants. But they’re still 11-4 and tied for the best record in the NFC. They’re also 6-1 at home.

They get the Cardinals this week, 3-12 and 1-7 on the road. Arizona has one win in five games, two wins in 12 and have lost their past two games 45-29 at home to San Fran and 27-16 in Chicago last week.

The Eagles’ losses in recent weeks have come versus the 49ers in a huge revenge game, away to the Cowboys and then away to the Seahawks on MNF. All better teams than the Cardinals and also in bad situational spots. They will have short rest having played on Christmas, but the Eagles’ weakness is often their passing defense where they rank 27th. That could be a non-factor versus the Cardinals who are 29th in passing offense. And versus a Cardinals offense that could be down Kyler Murray who has missed practice this week with an illness.

Rams vs Giants

  • Pick: Rams

Tyrod Taylor took over from Tommy DeVito for the Giants versus the Eagles last week and went 7-16 for 133 yards passing, 1 TD and 1 INT. The game swung in multiple directions with Philly up 20-3, the Giants getting close at 20-18 and Philly eventually pulling ahead and holding on in the fourth quarter to win 33-25.

Tyrod should give the Giants a boost, but there’s a big rest disadvantage here with New York playing on Monday on Christmas and LA having not played since Thursday last week. That’s four extra days of rest.

There’s little on the line here for the Giants who are eliminated from playoff contention while the Rams find themselves in the playoffs but just barely. They can still easily slip out with a loss here and another possible loss next week away to San Francisco. Sean McVay has the Rams rolling with wins in five of six and only an overtime loss in Baltimore being the outlier. They can’t afford to leave anything to chance next week so need the win here.

Steelers vs Seahawks

  • Pick: Seahawks

Much like the Rams at 8-7 SU, the Seahawks also hold a playoff spot but not by much.

Seattle is off back-to-back 20-17 wins over the Eagles and Titans last week. That’s come after a stretch of four straight losses. But those losses came away to the Rams, home to the 49ers, away to the Cowboys and then against the 49ers again in San Fran. Two losses to San Fran, two on the road to San Fran and Dallas and another by one point in Los Angeles to the league’s 8th-ranekd offense is nothing to be ashamed of. Especially with Geno Smith either being slowed by injury or missing time in those games.

Geno was healthy last week and threw for two touchdowns, while the Seahawks’ defense kept Ryan Tannehill to just 152 yards and no touchdowns.

Mason Rudolph stepped into the starting QB role last week for Pittsburgh and the Steelers scored their most points of the season beating the Bengals 34-11. So Rudolph is answer to what ails a Pittsburgh offense ranked 28th in PPG scoring an average of 17.1?

Maybe not so fast. The Jake Browning pixy dust wore off last week and he threw three interceptions stalling out Bengals’ drives and setting up the Steelers in good field position. Yes, Rudolph had an 86-yard touchdown pass but that was a short pass that George Pickens turned into a huge gain.

Take away all of those turnovers and this is still the same Steelers team that scored 13, 18, 10, 16 and 10 points in their five games prior and had losses against the Cardinals and Patriots.

Week 17 Teaser Picks

Matchup Pick (Teaser Odds)
Patriots vs Bills Bills -2.5 (-730)
Saints vs Buccaneers Bucs +7.5 (-497)
49ers vs Commanders 49ers -6.5 (-288)
TOTAL ODDS -120

These Week 17 teaser predictions include bets on the Bills and 49ers bet down to shorter favorites and flipping the Bucs from a favorite into an underdog.

NFL Week 17 Teaser Picks

I’ve created this teaser by choosing alternate spreads at DraftKings, but you should be able to do so at most football betting apps. Though some books may not allow for as much movement in the lines as DK.

We’ve basically adjusted these odds by around 10 points on the Bills, originally 14-point favorites and the Bucs, 2.5-point favorites, while adjusting around 7 points on the 49ers who were 13.5-point favorites.

Patriots vs Bills

  • Pick: Bills -2.5

The Patriots have been causing teams problems in recent weeks despite being just 4-11. They beat the Broncos last week, hung with the Chiefs the week prior, beat the Steelers before that and held the Chargers to six points the week prior, but still lost.

New England also pulled off a shock upset of the Bills earlier this season in Foxborough winning 29-25. The Bills had won four straight and 6/7 in the rivalry prior to that loss and have won by 12 and 30 points in their past two home games versus New England.

This Patriots’ offense already ranks 32nd in PPG (14.1) and now have RB Rhamondre Stevenson on IR, WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, TE Hunter Henry and LT Trent Brown all out or questionable this week. Defensively, five starters are also listed as questionable.

Buffalo took Philly to overtime losing 37-34, beat KC 20-17 and routed the Cowboys in Buffalo 31-10. Score like that and it could be a route. But then last week they needed a late field goal to beat the Chargers 24-22. My faith in the Bills covering a huge number is a little shaken after than so let’s use them in this Week 17 teaser.

Saints vs Buccaneers

  • Pick: Buccaneers +7.5

If I’m making  teaser picks, then the Bucs need to be included.

Baker Mayfield has the Bucs rolling and they’ve now won four straight, including big 34-20 and 30-12 wins in their past two games. They’re leading the NFC South at 8-7 and currently find themselves in the NFC playoff picture.

Even when the Bucs lose, it’s not often by much as their losses have come by 7, 13, 2, 6, 3, 14 and 14 points, with the bigger defeats coming versus top teams like Detroit, Philadelphia and San Francisco.

The Saints aren’t a bad team, just not a good team either at 7-8 and can’t be counted on to big by margin. When you’re only scoring 22.1 PPG (13th) you’re not going to pull away from many teams. Then let’s look at their seven wins. They’ve come versus the Titans (5-10), Panthers twice (2-13), Patriots (4-11), Colts (8-7), Bears (6-9) and Giants (5-10). So that’s one win versus a team with a winning record.

The Bucs already won 26-9 in New Orleans earlier this season and now at home, even if they lose, it shouldn’t be by much.

49ers vs Commanders

  • Pick: 49ers -6.5

The 49ers Super Bowl odds took a slight hit after losing to Baltimore on MNF, but they’re still priced as short as +225 and listed as the leading favorites.

Monday’s 33-19 loss brought to a halt a San Fran winning streak that had gone six games since their bye. Those wins had come by 31, 13, 18, 23, 12 and 16 points. So they can certainly cover the 13.5 points they’re favored by in the NFL point spread. Especially versus a Commanders team that has given up 30, 28, 45, 45, 31 and 29 points in recent weeks. In that stretch, they’ve suffered two 30-point defeats and even let the Jets score 30 points in last week’s 30-28 loss.

San Fran is 3rd in PPG, 2nd in YPG, 2nd in passing YPG and 4th in rushing YPG. They should roll through a Commanders defense that ranks 32nd in PPG allowed, 32nd in YPG allowed, 31st in passing YPG allowed and 23rd in rushing YPG allowed. But it keeps getting worse as Washington is tied for the worst turnover-differential mark at -10, they’re 25th in receptions allowed to running backs, 27th in receiving yards allowed to running backs, have allowed the third-most receiving touchdowns to running backs, are 31st in both receiving yards and touchdowns allowed to wide receivers and have allowed multiple quarterback passing touchdownd in ten of their past 12 games.

This could be a big day for many 49ers in the Week 17 NFL player props and should most definitely see San Fran covering 6.5 points in our teaser predictions.
